BATHING-CAP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 22, 1215.
Application filed November 17, 1914. Serial No. 872,517.
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, EDWIN A. GUIKZBURG, a.citizen of theUnited States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in' Bathing-Caps, of which the following is a specificatio The object of this invention is to provide a simple, ornamental and useful form of bathing cap, one which will be easily made, protect the hair and be pleasing in appearance.
These and other objects are accomplished by my invention, a more particular description of which will appear below.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved bathing cap, showing the same in use; Fig. 2 is a rear view showing the cap in an open condition and not inuse; and.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2, looking in. the direction of the arrows.
My improved bathing cap consists of a body ortion 1, made sufliciently full'to inclose t e hair of the wearer. The front part 2 of this portion isdrawn together to provide a brow covering portion, and adjacent the brow covering portion 2 is a button 3 or other suitable fastening means. The lower end of the body portion is dividedinto two parts I and 5. amlto the lower ends. of these divided portions 4 and 5 are secured loops 6, these loops being of elastic, or, like material. Secured to the interior of the body portion 1 is a head portion 7. This head portion is of approximately circular form so that it completely incloses the head of the wearer, and it is secured to the body portion- 1 by stitches 9 and is also secured to the brow portion 2 bystitches 10. In order that the cap may be firmly held u on-the head of the wearer, one edge of t e head portion 7 is turned in, as at 11 to form space.
for an elastic 12which is inclosed therein the wearer is slipped into the head portion 7, and the portion 5 is then brought around the rear ofthe cap and the ring 6 is slipped over the button 3. The portion 4 is then brought around the rear ofthe cap and the ring 6 then slipped over the button. It is possible to make acap of this type, omitting the head portion 7, but such caps are not suitable for use as bathing caps, for unless they are drawn very tightly about the head the water will reach the hair, and if they are drawn tightly about the head the hair will be disarranged, which is to be avoided.
While I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that the same is not restricted thereto, but is broad enough to cover all structures that come within the scope of the annexed claims.
What I claim is:
1. In a bathing cap, a body portion, a head portion contained within said body portion andportions depending from the body portion and adapted to wrap about the body portion and secure the cap about the head of the wearer.
2. In a bathing cap, a body portion, a head portion secured within said-body portion, securing means on said body portion and means on the body portion for extending about the head and attaching to the securin means on the body portion.
3. K bathing cap comprising a body portion, a head portion secured therein for containing the head of the wearer, portions extending downwardly from the body portion, each of said portions extending about the head of the wearer and securing to fastenin means on the body portion.
Signed, at the city, county and State of New York, this 6th day of November, 1914.
, EDWIN A. GUINZBURG.
