BUILDING-BLOCK FOR BUILDING-TALL CONSTRUCTION.
Application filed. February 19, 1912, Serial No. 678,626. Renewed November 11, 1914. Serial No. 871,633.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMns J. HINDE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sandusky, in the county of Erie and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Building- Blocks for Building-Wall Construction, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to building walls which are composed of hollow blocks or tiles and it is the object of the invention to provide means for more perfectly alining the adjacent tiles and also for effectively bonding the same.
' To this end the invention consists in the peculiar construction of a bonding block or tile which is engageable with registering core openings in the main blocks or tilesand.
bridges the joints therebetween.
In the drawings-Figure 1 is aperspective view of a building block or tile showing my improved construction of bonding tile in engagement therewith; Fig. 2 is a hori zontal section through a pair of ad acent blocks with the bonding tile in engagement therewith; Fig.3 is a vertical central section through a pair of adjacent blocks showing a slightly modified construction of bond-,
ing member. A are building blocks or tiles of any suitable and usual construction andwhich are provided with core openings B, therein and also preferably with partitions C between said openings. D is my improved bonding tile :which is formed of a size to telescopically engage the core openings B and of a length to bridge thejoint and to extend some distanceinto each of thead jacent tiles. The bonding block Dis preferably formed similar in structure to the main blocks, that is, it is provided with core the construction shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings, in which one'end of the block is beveled as indicated at G. This bevel edge Specification of Letters Patent.

the bonding block or blocks by first tilting it as shown in dotted lines at H, Fig. 3. The
bevel edge alsofacilitates the placing of the mortar in the-blocks to cement the bond.
By means of my invention the building wall may be more accurately laid and with less skill required on the part ofthe work men than with constructions heretofore used, and also the resulting structure .is much stronger and more durable.
' WhatI claim as my invention is:
ing blocks having registering core openings therein, of a bonding block comprising a 1. The combination with adjacent buildrectangular hollow member telescopically engageable with said core openings and havwith the last laid of-the adjacent building blocks. 2. The combination with adjacent hollow building blocks having registering core openings thereir'n'of a bonding block having a rectangular portion telescopically engageable with the core openings of the first laid of said adjacent blocks, and a projecting end beveled or pointedon its under side for laid of. said adjacent blocks.
.70 ing'a bevel or pointed end for engagement T engagement with the core opening of thelast i' 3. The combination with adjacent hollow I building blocks having registering core openings therein,"of a bonding block comprising a rectangular hollow member telescopically engagea-ble with the core openings in said blocks-and indented transversely to receive the mortar,'one end of said block being beveled or pointed for easy engagement with I the last laid of said adjacent building blocks. openings E and cross partitions F so as to.
