IMPROVEMENT IN MILLSTONE-BALANCES.
the Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and-making part oi the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J 01m A. ALTHOUSE, of New Harmony, in the county of Posey and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Millstone-Balance; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and useful improvement in arrangement of weights for balancing millstones and consists in the particular construction and arrangement .of certain devices, as hereinafter fully described, and as specified in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 represents a top view, and
Figure 2 a side view of a millstone with my balancing device applied.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding arts.
A is the stone or runner.
B is a slotted horizontal bar, which is made adjustable as to height by vertical slots in the plates 0 C.
The plates C O are fastened to the stone in any secure manner.
D is the weight, which'is made to slide on the horiz'ontal bar B.
One or more of these bars and weights may be employed, according to the weight required to perfectly balance the stone.
The bar B, as well as the weight, is held in any required position by means of screw-bolts E and F.
By this arrangement the running stone may be adjusted to the bed-stone with the greatest accuracy, very little skill being required to properly adj nst the weights for that purpose.

Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The horizontal slotted bar B, vertical slotted plates 0 G, bolts E E, and weight D, provided'with bolts F, all arranged as and for the purpose specified.
