IRA, c. BLAKE, 0F woncnsrns, MASSACHUSETTS."
Letters Patent N0. 113,970, dated April 25, 1871.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
I, IRA G. BLAKE, of the city and county of \Vorces :er, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain improvements in Detecter-Olocks,of-which the following is a specification.
- Nature and Object of the Invention.
I The object of my invention is to provide a detecter, to be placed in a fixed position, which shall register the touch of a watchman and show the exact time of the touch, and one that can be easily renewed or put in working order.
The nature of my invention consists in providing the clock with a suitable dial to receive a mark or impression, and in attaching to the hour-hand (so called) a point or marker, and making the front with a movable ring-plate and spring stem, whereby the hour-hand may be operated.
Description of the Accompanying Drawing. Figure 1 shows a clock with my improved detecter Figure 2 is a section of the diaL hOur-hand, and front, with the operating mechanism.
Figure 3 shows the dial, with hour-hand and marker.
The dial A may have the hour spaces divided into one, five, ten, or fifteen-minute spaces, as preferred; and the hour-hand B is extended to receive the marker 0, to'operate near the outer part of the dial when only one is used, and when more are used the space-lines are carried in toward the center nearly to the inner market.
To the front D is secured a ring-plate, F, with its stem G passing through D to the outside, and provided with a spring, i, to keep the ring-plate F in place, the front D having a hasp and lock to fasten it.
The clock is secured where wanted, and being wound, the front locked, the watchman, on coming to it, presses the stem G, and the ring-plate F forces the hand toward the dial, making a mark in whatever position it may be, leaving the record of the time it was touched. This may be repeated as often as desired for twelve hours or more by doubling the marks, when, to renew it, the dial should be cleaned or changed.
Any substance that will receive a. mark or impression may be used for the dial by making the marker to correspond.
Various modifications of my invention may be made, as the marker made movable in the hand, and several used, with separate rings for each, and by attaching simple levers and wires one clock be made-to serve for several rooms.
\Vhat I claim is- The combination of the ring-plate, having a spring stem, with the front D and marking-hand B, as and for the purposes set forth.
IRA e. BLAKE.
