Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May i8, i915.
Application led March 10, 1913. Serial No. 753,156.
T0 all tf1/omit may concern Be it known that I, FRANK B; CoiiINs, of Newton, county of Middlesex, formerly of Sharon, county of Norfolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Humidifiers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.4
This invention has reference to improvements in humidifiers and particularly to such devices specially adapted for the supplying of moisture to warps of looms.
The object of this invention is to so construct a humidifier of this nature that it may be applied to a loom without obstructing access to the loom in any manner and whereby moisture may be supplied to the warp threads during their operation in the loom and preferably to those portions of said Vwarp threads extending between the warp beam and the lay.
Another object of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient humidifier adapted to receive moistened air from beneath the door of the weave room and to deliver said moistened air above said floor within the boundary of the loom frame.
Other objects of the invention will appear from the following description.
The invention consists in the novel 'construction of the improved humidifier.
The invention also consists in such other novel features of construction and combination of parts as shall hereinafter be more fully described and pointed out in the claim.V
Figure l, represents a side elevation of the improved humidifier partially broken away and shown insection illustrating the invention as applied to a loom. Fig. 2, represents a plan view of the delivery or mouth piece of the humidifier in relative position to a loom which latter is indicated. y
Similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout.
As shown in the accompanying drawings A represents the floor of a weave room and B the frame of a loom of any well known construction of which C is the warp beam and D the lay.v
The improved humidifier comprises vthe chamber 5 which forms a communication and drip receptacle between the two' cylinders or air conduits 6 and 7 which approximately are parallel. Cylinder 6 isfshorter than that marked 7 whereby the open upper Afier water under suitable end of this cylinder 6 is spaced from the floor A, and 1n the open upper end of this cylinder 6 is located the spray head or atom-v lzer 8 of anyy well known construction to which water under pressure may be supplied. Cylinder 7 is secured to the floor A and extends through asuitable Vopening in said floor at a point within the boundary of the loom frame and preferably between those portions which respectively sustain the warp roll C and the lay D. The upper end of cylinder 7 is furnished with the mouth piece 9 having the dished bottom member l0, whereby moisture thereon may drain back into said cylinder 7 while the top of said mouth piece is formed by the deflector 1l mounted on said members and having the depending drip member 12 positioned above said cylinder 7 so that moisture accumulating on said deflector 1l may drain into said cylinder 7.
In the operation of this improved humidipressure is supplied to the spray head or atomizer 8 and is delivered thereby as spray to cylinder 6. As a result of such spray a current of air is induced to flow into the open end of cylinder 6 and such air becomes moistened or humidified and then passes through chamber 5 into cylinder 7 from whence said moistened air is delivered or circulated through the openings between the edges of the mouth piece member l0 and the deiiector 11. Said moistened air then rises toward the warp extended between the warp roll C and the lay D and supplies moisture to said warp without the danger of undue moistening such warp as is present in moistening'devices which deliver moisture above the warp. ln the operation of this device, if there be any accumulation of moisture suflicient to form' drops, the specific gravity thereof will carry said drops downward or at least the comparatively light current of air induced to flow through this humidifier will not have sufiicient velocity to carry upward to' the warp atoms of moisture of sufficient size to injure said warp.
The surplus of moisture delivered by the Spray head 8 is drained from chamber 5 in any usual manner and the surplus moisture claim 'asvnetv `and desireto secure by Letl Vtersl Patent.'
