To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CARL KRUG, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Frankfort-on-the-Main, Mainkur, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful improvement in Abrading-Disks, of which the following is a specification.
Abrading disks made in thin layers and particularly those of large diameter such as are used in abrading machines with rotary steel disks are liable to become broken in transport even when very carefully packed. Apart from the question of damage, the packing having regard to its bulkiness, costs a great deal compared to the cost of the disk itself. In the abrading disk forming the subject of the present invention this disadvantage is overcome, by dividing the abradlayer into parts, and securing the same on flexible foundation holding the parts By so dividing the disk it can be into an easily transportable and unkahle form.

For despatching the disk formed in ac cordance with the first embodiment, the part 2 is folded, in the manner indicated in Fig. 3 on the part 1, so that the disk is reduced to half of its original dimensions.
For despatching a disk as shown in Fig. 4, the parts 1 and 3 are folded on the part 2 in the manner indicated in Fig. 6 so that the size of the disk is reduced to that of the part 2.
In each case a considerable increasein the resistance to fracture is obtained and much better use is made of the packing space available with a consequent reduction in the cost of packing and of transport. The sub vision of the disk has not been pair its strength in abrading.
