UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL S'IEINEOKE, OF BROOKLYN, NENV YORK, ASSIGNOR TO OIlI'tISIIAN A. SC IIMIDI, OF IIOIEOKIGN, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR TRIMMING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,841, dated October 25, 1887.
Application Iilrd September 9, [887 To all whom it 1220 concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL STErNEoKE, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Gimp, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the 210 companying drawing, in which a face view of a piece of my newly-designed gimp is shown.
The leading feature of my design consists in serpentine lines running in the direction of the length of the gimp, which serpentinelines are crossed at intervals by transverse lines, the transverse lines extending over the different serpentine lines alternately.
A is the center of the gimp; B I}, the heading along the longitudinal edges.
C C O O are serpentine or wave lincsthat is, lines that gradually approach and leave the longitudinal central line of the gimp.
D D are transverse lines extending over the serpentine lines O, the transverse lines DD of 'two adjacent serpentine lines 0 alternatingthat is to say, a transverse line D extends across one serpentine line C midway between the transverse lines D crossing the other serpentine lines 0. The transverse lines D also Serial No.949,117. Term of patent H years.
cross those serpentine lines O nearest the longitudinal central line of the gimp at those points of the scrpentinelincs farthest from the longitudinal central line; and it thus follows, as the transverse lines on the serpentine lines alternate, that the transverse lines cross the outer serpentinelinesthatis, thelinesnearest the edge of the gimp-at those points of the said outer serpentine line nearest the longi- 5 tudinal central. line of the gimp.
Having thus described my design, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for gimp, substantially as herein shown and described, the same consisting of the body, headings, serpentine lines running in the direction of the length of the gin|p,and transverse lines crossing the serpentine lines alternately.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention l have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SAMUEL STEINEOKE.
