IMPROVEM ENT IN BOTTLEfSTGPPERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making put of the lune.
I, LOUIS DOVELL, of Newark, New Jersey, have invented certain Improvement-s in Bottle-Stoppers, of which the followingfin connect-ion with the accompafnying drawing, is a. specification.
The nature of my invention consists in providing n. stopperfor a. bott-le so that the ink or other duid may be poured out without removing the stopper, and, at the same time, to prevent it from bubbling.
The stopper is constructed in the following manner:
Into an ordinary stopper I inserta tube, which is secured at the bottom ot the Icork by the edge being turned outward, so as to form :t flange.
The top of said tube is provided with a, screw-cap, which, when it is removed, will enable the fluid to be poured out, and when replaced the bottle becomes sealed.
The cap is supplied on the inside with :t piece of l leather or other elastic material, which, when the cap is screwed down, covers the orifice and prevents the fluid from escaping.
To prevent' the fluid from bubbling when it is being poured out the tube A is supplied with a. corrugated blade, B, of brass or copper,'which is inserted from the bottom7 the upper end of which is above the fluid and the lower end reaching to or near to the bottom of the bottle. This blade need not be soldered fast, but simply pressed in suciently tight to prevent it from dropping out.
I claimv 'The tube A, supplied with the corrugated blade B, in combination with the stopper O, when arranged and operating substantially as and for the purposes hereinset forth and described.
