A CORPORATION.
INCLINATOR FOR CARBOYS.
Patented Apr. 27, 1915.
Application filed May 1914. Serial No. 835,872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HORACE M. MOCORD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Inclinators for Carboys, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to inclinators for carboys and has for its object to provide improved means for locking the carboy into a carboy holder such as is shown and described in my co-pending application, Serial No. 772,643, filed June 9, 1913.
The full objects and advantages of my invention will appear in connection with the detailed description thereof and are particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, illustrating the application of my invention in one form,-Figure 1 is a perspective view of an inclinator having my improved locking means attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of such inclinator. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a portion of an inclinator showing the locking device. Fig. 4 is a top view of the parts shown in Fig. 3.
In the construction of my invention, as illustrated and described in my aforesaid application, I provide longitudinal frame pieces 10 and 11 which are joined to base members 12 and 13 on which are mounted uprights 14 and 15, from which are supported hangers or supports 19. Upon the hangers 19 is secured a box-like structure 20. Upon the back of member 20 are secured a pair of keepers 35, 36 within which slides a bar 37 having on the upper end thereof a hook 38 turned inwardly so as to overhang the carboy when the same is assembled in the member 20, as indicated in Fig. 1. A short link 39 is pivotally connected to the rear of box 20, and to this link 39 is pivoted a lever 40 which extends beneath a ratchet keeper 41 secured to the rear of box 20 at a point such that bar 37 is between keeper 41 and link 39. The lever 40 is pivoted at 42 to the bar 37, and is provided with an outturned handle. 43. The bar 40 is angularly turned, as indicated at 44, so as to engage within notches 45 on the inside of ratchet keeper 41. By turning the same through the handle 43, the lever 40 may be made to avoid the ratchet teeth 45 so as to slide upwardly beneath the keeper 41, thereby sliding upwardly the bar 37 and the hook 38. When the handle 43 is pushed down it will turn the portion 44 against the ratchet teeth of ratchet keeper 41 so as to lock the ratchet in position. The forcing down of lever 40 by handle 43 carries with it the bar 37 and the hook 38, which may thus be driven into the wooden body of the carboy 46. At the same time, through oblique portion 44 of lever 43 engaging in a ratchet notch 45, the bar and hook are locked in their proper relative position with the hood 38 driven firmly into carboy 46. A carboy is thus firmly secured within the holder 20 and can be tilted as much as desired. It is also a feature of importance of the bar 37 that, as indicated in Fig. 1, when it is positioned for locking the carboy into the holder it also serves as a handle for tilting the carboy and handle to pour liquid therefrom.
I claim:
1. An inclinator comprising a box-like carboy holder, a bar slidably mounted upon the back of said holder and held spaced from the body of the carboy to provide a handle for manipulating the inclinator, a hook on said bar for engaging the body of the carboy, a link pivoted to the back of the carboy, a lever pivoted to said link and to the bar for sliding the same to force the hook into the carboy, and means for holding the lever locked where set.
2. An inclinator comprising a boxlike carboy holder, a bar slidably mounted upon the back of said holder, a hook on said bar for engaging the body of the carboy, a link pivoted to the back of the carboy, a lever pivoted to said link and to the bar for sliding the same, and a keeper extending above the bar having ratchet teeth engageable with a portion thereof for holding the parts locked in operative position.
3. An inclinator comprising a box-like carboy holder, a bar slidably mounted upon the back of said holder, a hook on said bar for engaging the body of the carboy, a link pivoted to the back of the carboy, a lever pivoted to said link and to the bar for sliding the same, a keeper extending above the bar having ratchet teeth engageahle with a In testimony whereof I affix my signature portion thereof ior holding the parts locked in presence of two witnesses. in operative posltion, said bar having an an:
gularly-disposed portion for engaging said HORACE MOCORD 5 notches, and an ofisethandle to turn said Witnesses: V
