My invention relates .to a device to be carried in the pocket by individual smokers, for forming cigarettes as required for immediate use. a

More particularly the invention is designed to produce a device of the indicated character, by means of which a cigarette wrapper may-be properly rolled and filled with fine cut tobacco of the general character employed in what is known as Cuban cigarettes, although the device is applicable 7 for forming cigarettes from tobacco \generally.

In carrying out the invention, use is made of a tubularstructure presenting sections constituting a means for the rolling and filling of a cigarette wrapper. The sections are open along one s ide, and thus have approximately asemicylindrical or troughlike formation. The sections are co-axial or approximately'so, and the one section is adaptedto be turned through an angle about the other section, to bring the open sides of ceive the charge of tobacco, or to close the side opening and clamp anedge of the ciga? rette wrapper. With the yvrapper thus clamped it may be rolled around the ex terior of the sections with the charge of tobacco therein. Associated with the sections referred to and formed by the rearv ends thereof, is an enlarged tubular body. portion adapted toreceive a surplus of tobacco in the charging of the filling and forming sections so as to insure an available supply of tobacco in the device for the filling of the rolled wrapper. In connection with the tubular sections of the body'portion, a combined lock and stop is provided to limit the turning movement of the sections and prevent axial displacementof thelatter; As a precaution, having in view the possible I clinging of the tobacco, a 011 awer device is provided, arranged to be brought into ac tion for forcing the tobacco intolthe rolled wrapper, as the device is withdrawn from the wrappen. 2. In a cigarette making device, a tubular wrapper rolling and-filling means comprising two approximately semi-cylindrical sec- 7 tions adapted to turn one on the other, to a position with one section closing the side opening of the other to constitute a troughlike receiver adapted tohold a charge of tobacco, or to a position with one section closing the other, said sections having an open end, the sections presenting opposed longitudinal edges mee ing to clamp the edge of a wrapper, whereby a bodily turning of the device will roll the wrapper on the exterior of the said charged tubular means, the sections permitting an. endwise removal of the rolled wrapper and the said open end of the sections forming an outlet for the tobacco into the rolled wrapper, longitudinally of the sections, as the rolled wrapper is removed endwise.

3. In a cigarette making device, a tubular wrapper rolling and filling means comprising approximately semi-cylindrical sections arranged to turn at an angle relatively to each other, to present registering open sides for receiving a charge of tobacco, or to eifect a closure of said open sides, said section having an open end, and meansto lock said sections against longitudinal displacement and limit the relative turning movement thereof, the sections permitting an endwise removal of the rolled wrapper and the said open end of the sections forming an outlet for the tobacco into the rolled wrapper, longitudinally of the sections, as the rolledwrapper is removed endwise.

4. In a cigarette making device, a tubular wrapper rolling and filling means, comprising approximately semi-cylindrical sections arranged to turn through an angle relatively to each other, to present registering open sides for receiving a. charge of tobacco, or

to effect a closure of said open sides, the lnner one of said sectionshaving atransversely disposed tongue, and the other of said sections having an opening through which the said tongue projects, said tongue limiting the turning movement of? the Sections and preventing longitudinal displacement thereof.

5. In a cigarette making device, a tubular wrapper rolling and filling means comprising approximately semi-cylindrical sections adapted to turn one on the other and hav ing an open end and opposed longitudinal, beveled edges, to clamp a cigarette wrapper and hold the same, the said sections turning one onthe other to positions with one section closing the side of the other section, the'two sections in the said positions presenting jointly an exterior surface around which a cigarette wrapper may be rolled and then removed endwise, the said open end of the sections forming an outlet for the tobacco into the rolled wrapper, longitudinally of the sections, when the. said wrapper is withdrawn endwise.

. 6. In a device of the character described, a tubular body composed of inner and outer cylindrical members, a tubular wrapper rolling and filling extension communicating with the tubular body, and consisting of mating sections each of which is open along a side thereof and at an end thereof, the said sections turning one on the other through an angle to positions with one section closing theopen side of the other section in response to a relative turning of the body members, the two sections in the said positions presenting jointly an exterior surface around which a cigarette wrapper may be .rolled and then removed endwise, the said for the entrance of tobacco, and semi-- cylindrical sections respectively in fixed relation to the said-inner and outer members and in communication with the interior of the said body for the passage of tobacco to and from the body, the said sections being adapted to turn the one on the other in response to the relative turning of the body sections.

8.
