WATCHCASE.
. T all whom t maja/concern:
`Be it known that I, JOHN WILIJAMFoRs-'I I MAN, a'citizen of the United States, residing at Deep River, in the county of Wahkiakum, State of lNashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tatchcases; and I dohereby declare the follow`v ing to be a full, clear, and yexact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in watch cases.
The object ofthis invention is the provi-y sion o f a watch case so constructed that moisture will bev prevented from entering therein to engage the works.
A further object of this invention is to improve and simplifydevices of this character rendering them comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable andeflicient in use and readily operated.
`Withthe above and other objects in view this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fullyI described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:- f y, n Figure 1 is a front elevation ofmy invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional View taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a detailed perspective view of the bearing collar removed, and Fig. 4 is a detailed perspective view of the cap removed.
Referring to the drawing by similar characters of reference throughout the several lviews, the'numeral 5 designates generally my improved watch casing which consists of the customary outer casing 6 in which is located the'usual works supporting ring 7, the upper face of which lies Hush with the upper face of an inner peripheral fiange S formed upon the watch casing and producing a resultant shoulder at the outer periphery of the said watch casing. The exterior of the ange 8 is threaded as at 10 for engagement with the crystal ring 11, while the shoulder 9 is provided with an Speccatlon of Letters Patent.
Application led August 17, 1911. Serial No. 644,592.

annular groove 12 in which is'located a gaskety 13 for engagement with the :inner end rofthe crystal ring 11,4 by means rof which the front of the watch casing is sealed againstthe admission of moisture.
' The stem sleeve 14 is provided adjacent its connection with the attaching ring 15 with an annular flange 16, the upper. end of which is provided with a groove 18 in which is located a gasket 19` for contactl with the lower end of av closing cap 20 which'is threaded upon the stem sleeve leiv whereby the said stem opening is sealed'against the adm1ss1on of moisture. In order to prevent any undesired entrance of moisture between f the crystal and the ring 11 the exterior edges of the said crystal are coated as indicated bythe numeral 2l with rubber'or other similar material, which when brought in contacty with the retaining beads of the ring 11 securely seals the connection between the crystal and its supporting ring.
From the foregoing disclosure taken in connection with the accompanying ldrawings, it will be manifest that a watch casing for the purposes specified is provided which will answer all the 'necessary requirements ofsuch a device.
Having thus fully described this invention, what I lclaim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is:
The combination of a watch case having a tubularpendant provided with exterior threads atits outer end aring adjustable on said thread and provided with a circular y JOI-IN WM. FORSMAN.
