DISPLAY-STAND.
$pecification of Letters Patent I Patented Apr. 6, 1915.
Application filed. December 12, 1913. Serial No. 806,288.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, TI-IOMAs CORNELIUS SHEEHAN, a citizen of the United States, re siding in Essex Fells, New Jersey, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Stands, of which the following is a specification.
This invention aims to provide certain improvements in display stands, and especially in the arrangement of the pockets that receive packages or articles and the arrangement for locking and unlocking the pockets. that it will hold and display any kind of articles or packages. v
The accompanying drawings illustrate an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a sectional view on the line 11 of Fig. 3; Fig. 2 is a front view of part of the front plate; Fig. 3 is a rear view; Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4=l of Fig. 3.
Referring now to the embodiment of the invention illustrated, A is the front plate of the stand comprising pockets B, depressed therein, said pockets adapted to receive articles or packages C and to display the same.
This front plate A comprises a circular flange D which serves as a part of the pockets. Attached to said front plate A is a bendable support E for displaying the articles or packages at any angle. Passing through the support and the front plate are rivets F which securely fasten the support to the plate. I
' The pockets B may be of any shape or size and can be made to hold any kind or size of articles or packages. These pockets B are formed of portions G of the front plate A, which first project backward to form the sides and then are turned inward to form the back H of each pocket. The circular flange D forms the outer ends of the pockets, thereby preventing any of the articles or packages from being with drawn from that end. On the back of this front plate A is located a revolving disk J comprising a turned-up flange L which closes the inner ends of the pockets, thereby preventing any of the articles or packages from being withdrawn from that end. For opening the pockets the disk J has an opening K through its turned-up flange L, said opening being as large as the width of one of the pockets B. This opening is to allow the articles or packages C to r be conveniently inserted in the pockets and This stand can be so constructed.
also to allow the articles or packagesto be withdrawn from the pockets. The flat portion of the disk is also cut away adjacent to the opening K to facilitate thepassage of the articles This revolving disk is provided with four bent-up members M near its flange L for the purpose of turning it.
The bent-up members M and the flange L of the revolving disk are made integral with the flat portion thereof.
In order to'fill the pockets B with the packages or articles C the disk is turned by grasping the bent-up members M until the opening in the flange' L of the disk is of the pockets (as shown in Fig. 3).' The package or article, which is to be displayed, is then inserted. The'same operation is re peated in order to fill the next pocket. This is continued until all of the pockets are filled, one at a time. 7
In order to prevent the withdrawal of any of the packages or articles C from the pockets B the revolving disk His turned so 7 brought in line with the inner edge of one that the opening in its flange L does not come in line with the inner edge of any one of the pockets, butwill be positionedfbetween two of the pockets B (as shown in Fig. 1), thereby closing all of the pockets and preventing any of the packages or articles from being withdrawn.
In order to Withdraw the packages or articles 0 from the pockets B the revolving disk J is turned. so that the opening in the flange is again brought in line with the inner edge of one of the pockets B and the package 0 then withdrawn from said pocket. When a package is being withdrawn from one of the pockets it is impossible to withdraw a package from any other pocket. Therefore, it will. be understood that the pockets must be filled and emptied consecutively. The locking means is concealed at the back of the stand sothat customers in the place where it is displayed cannot see the locking means and cannot withdraw the packages and to display the same, said plate having a circular flange integral therewith for forming closed outer ends for said pockets and a revolving disk located on the back of said plate and having a laterally projecting flange for closing the inner ends of said pockets and an opening through said flange for opening the inner ends of said pockets.
2. A display stand comprising a plate, pockets depressed therein to hold articles or packages and to display the same said pockets opening in a radial direction to per mit the introduction and removalof the articles by a radial movement, a revolving isk located on the back of said plate and having a laterally projecting flange for closing said pockets and having an opening through said flange for opening said pockets, said flanged revolving disk having projecting members bent outward therefrom, said members being located near the flange of said revolving disk so as. to easily turn the said revolving disk and being integral with said revolving disk.
3. A display stand comprising a plate having a circular flange, and pockets depressed in said plate to hold articles or packages, said pockets being formed by portions of said plate projecting backwardly and inwardly and by said flange, and a flanged revolving disk located on the back of said plate having an opening to register With any one oi. said pockets While its flange closes the remaining pockets.
l. A display stand comprising a plate,
ockets carried b said late for holdin v P Y P a;
and displaying articles or packages, and a member having a flange adapted to close said pockets at one end, said flange having an opening as long as the end of one of said pockets, said member being attached to said plate and being movable to bring said open- Qfopis of this patent may be obtained for ing in line With any one of said pockets to permit the insertion of an article into said pocket or the Withdrawal of an article therefrom.
5. A display stand comprising a plate A,
pockets B depressed therein, each having sides G and back l-l formed by integral portions of said plate, said plate having a circular flange D forming closed outer ends for said pockets, and a disk J mounted revolubly on the back of said plate and having a flange L adapted to close the inner ends of said pockets, said flange having an open ing K as long as the end of one of said pockets, so that said disk may be turned to positions to open the inner ends of said pockets to permit the insertion and with draWal of articles or packages.
6. A display stand comprising a plate, pockets depressed therein to hold articles or packages and to display the same, said plate having a circular flange projecting back- Ward therefrom and being integral there- With for forming closed outer ends for said pockets and a revolving disk located on the back of said plate having a backwardly projecting flange for closing the inner ends of said pockets and an opening through said flange and disk proper for opening the inner ends of said pockets, said opening in the disk proper being adapted to permit a free movement of the articles when said opening in the disk proper and flange, respectively, are brought in register With the inner ends of the pockets.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
