MAYER JULES ROBERT BLOCH, 0F PARIS, FRANCE.
PERFUME-SPRAYER.
Application filed July 5, 1911.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MAYER J ULES ROBERT BLooH, of 43 Rue Richer, in the city of Paris, Republic of France, have invented Improvements in Perfume-Sprayers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
It is known that certain perfumes when distributed or diffused over an article or in an apartment, combine together and thus produce a new and very agreeable perfume. It has already been tried to mix difi erent liquid perfumes in one and the same receptacle, but this mixture does not give good results because one of the perfumes dominates and destroys the others. It is therefore necessary, in order that the perfumes may preserve their indiviclual qualities and yet mingle together, that they shall be distributed or difiused separately and simultaneously in the apartment or upon the article to be perfumed.
This invention has now for its object to provide an improved perfume sprayer which will enable a number of perfumes to be distributed or diffused separately and simultaneously.
This improved sprayer consists substantially of a receptacle divided into a number of compartments each containing a difierent perfume. Each compartment communicates on the one hand with the atmosphere by means of a tube terminating in a spraying nozzle and on the other hand with a chamber located at the upper part of the receptacle and in which air may be compressed. The air pressure acts simultaneously upon the various perfumes which are projected separately and simultaneously through the nozzles. In order that the liquids contained in the compartments of the receptacle may not mingle together if the sprayer is upset, the air inlet ports and the tubes can be closed at will by means of devices which will be described hereafter.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the sprayer. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View. Fig. 3 is a plan view, the sprayer head being removed. Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7 are detail views of the closlng cocks.
As illustrated, the improved sprayer consists of a receptacle or flask a divided by partitions 6 into a certain number of com- Specification of Letters Patent.

partments c. The compartments 0 of the receptacle a are closed at their upper part by a metal plate 0 integral with a ring or lining 0 sealed on the receptacle a. In the metal plate 0 are secured tubulures 7? placed respectively opposite each of the compartments 0 and putting the latter in communication with the atmosphere. Each of these tubulures 79, which forms a cock shell, receives a metal plug (1 within which is provided two passages r and 8 each forming a right angle inside this plug. The passage 1", which opens on the side of the plug, communicates with the tube d which is secured on the said plug. The passage 8 opens at one end also on the side of the plug and at the other end on the bottom of the latter. 'When the plug 9 is suitably rotated, the passages r and s can come opposite openings 25 and it provided in the walls of the tubulure p. The opening t communicates with a pipe 12, forming the prolongation of the tube d and opening in one of the nozzles 6 (Fig. 7). The opening it communicates with the chamber f formed by the head f which is screwed to the ring 0 In the example illustrated, the air is compressed in this chamber by a piston to. If the plugs q are turned so that the passages r and s coincide or register with the openings t and u and if the piston w is then actuated, the air compressed by the latter in the chamber 7 passes through the openings in and the passages s of the plugs 51 and exerts a pressure upon the liquids contained in the compartments 0. Then these liquids rise in the tubes cl, pass through the passages r of the cock plugs, the tubulures p and escape as a spray through the nozzles c. As the air simultaneously enters the compartments c the perfumes rise at the same time in each of the pipes 03. Since these pipes are independent of one another, the perfumes will escape through the nozzles separately but also simultaneously. By these means the desired mingling of the perfumes will be obtained. By suitably rotating the plugs q, the orifices of the passages r and 8 do not coincide any more with the openings t and u of the tubulures p, so that the air cannot enter any more the compartments 0 and the liquids cannot escape from said compartments. When it is desired to open or close the plugs (1 it is necessary to first unscrew the head f.
In order to allow spraying one of the two liquids contained in the compartments 0,
when the plugs q are open, each nozzle e can be closed by means of a small plug 00 secured to the end of a small chain y.
The improved sprayer is more particularly intended for the mingling of perfumes, but it may be used also for the simultaneous spraying of any liquids, medicinal liquids for instance.
It is to be understood that the receptacle (2 may comprise any number of compartments 0. Likewise, this receptacle may be formed by connecting together in any suitable manner several small flasks.
Claims:
1. A sprayer forseparately and simultaneously projecting several liquids, comprising a receptacle, partitions dividing said receptacle into several compartments, a metal plate closing the compartments, tubulures secured on said plate and corresponding to the compartments, nozzles for spraying the liquids, pipes for putting said tubulures in communication with said nozzles, cock plugs fitted in the tubulures, tubes secured on said plugs and a device for compressing air in the compartments of the receptacle.
2. A sprayer for separately and simultaneously projecting several liquids, comprising a receptacle, partitions dividing said receptacle into several compartments, a metal plate closing the compartments, tubulures secured on said plate and corresponding to the compartments, nozzles for spraying the liquids, pipes for putting said tubulures in communication with said nozzles, cock plugs fitted in the tubulures and each presenting two passages capable of registering with one of the pipes and an opening of the tubulure, tubes secured on the cock plugs opposite one of said passages, a metallic head forming internally a chamber and screwed on the ring securing the closing Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner o f Pa ten ts,
