To all whom 'it may 'concern Be it known that I, ANTONIO lDI SALvIo, residentof- Washington, in the county of Washington and State of Pennsylvania,
Device. It consists in a combination and improvementshereinafter described and claimed.
One object of this Ainvention resides in providing an article of the character described by means of which dirt, dandru and other extraneous matter may be readily removed from the hair.
A still further object is to produce a comi bincd airl blast` and suction apparatus which is compact, easily conveyed from place to place and readily manipulated by. the operator, as well as one that is both inexpensive and ornamental.'
Another and still further object resides providing a cooling means for the field. of
the motorused in the operation of this de-v vice.
With theseV and other objects in view Vmy invention consists of certain novel details of f construction, combinationl and arrangement of parts tobe more particularly set forth and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings -in which corres ondingparts are indicated by similar reference characters, Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section of my improved suction apparatus illustrating the latter as connected by a flexible tube with a suction comb which is shown in section. The connection of the tube with the apparatus also being shown in section. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section illustrating the device in 'connection with a flexible tube having an air diffusing means at its lower end, the lat ter being partially in section; a tube which has its extremity removed from the suction opening of the apparatus and connected with the air blast opening thereof is shown partly in section.
Heretofore appliances of this kind have been cumbersome, generally located in a fixed position and have proved both ineicient and`annoying. It is, therefore, to this end that I propose to provide a simple little appliance which may readily beconveyed to any desired point and conveniently handled by the operator, consisting ing -1 preferably formed of nickel or other ornamental metal and having an elliptical conguration as clearly shown in Fig. 1.

Also depending from the lower surace of the section'l is a supporting leg 8 having a horizontally disposed fool-L9 for i I -exterior surface of section 1 in offset relation -thereto and suitably spaced from the threaded' end thereof is an externally threaded flange 12 adapted to engage the internally threaded end of an inner casing 2, which latter is also formed of nickel so vkas to correspond with the outer casing.
Also formed 1n section l of the outer casing immediately above the journal 11 is an opening 13 surrounding and projecting obliquely from which is a tubular extension aving its upper extremity beveled to properly underlie the inner surface of casing 2. In the upper surface of the casing 2 there is formed immediately7 above the upper extremity of extension 14 an opening 15 while surrounding and extending vertically from the opening 14 is an annular threaded nipple 16 upon which may be placed any suitable cap not shown.
Supported Within the casing 2 upon brackets 17 is a motor 18 having an extended shaft 19 one end of which is disposed in the journal boX produced by an integrally formed cap 21, surrounding and projecting outwardly from an opening 22 formed in the rear of the casing as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The extended portion of the shaft 19 passes through the journalsV 11 to the interior of inner casing 1 and has its free extremity terminating within the latter at a point substantially central thereof.
Mounted upon the free extremity of shaft 19 is a fan 20, while also mounted upon the 1. shaft intermediate the motor and journal 11 is a second fan 21, the air inlet and outlet that when the motor 18 vis placed in operaous matter of the hair will be drawn througl for which vare provided by the openings 22" and 22. Dependingfrom the lower portion of the casing 2 are two supporting legs 23 having horizontally disposed feet '24, the lower surfaces of which are disposed in horizontal alinement with'the lower surface of the foot 9 and which it will be apparent provides suppIo'rting means for the two sections 1 and 2. o operate the motor 18, of course it Awill be understood that the latter may be connected.v by a conductor 25 to any suitable 4current supply. A flexible tube 26, `when -the device is used for producing suction, has one end engaged with the nipple 7 as at 26 and the other end thereof secured to ahollow comb 27 having air inlets 28 interposed between teeth-29` thereof as clearly shown in Fig. 1. From this it will become vapparent tion, the shaft 19 will be revolved thus rotating the fans 2O and 21 thereon, so that if the suction comb is Vconnected in the manner shown in Fig. 1, all dirt and other extranethe tube 26 into the casing 1. However, it may sometimes be desirable to utilize the device as an air blast producing means, in which` case, the iiexible tube 26 is disconnected from the nipple 7 and connected't'o the'externally threaded -iiange 16 of casing 2. a Also the suction comb is removed from the lower end ofthe tube and an air diffusing member 30 havinglan annular enlargement 31 providedwit openings 32 in the lower portion thereof by means of which it "will be possible to cause a strong blast of air to be brought into contact with the face `or head of the person under treatment, so that fine particles of hair or dandruf, etc.' `can be conveniently removed.
' From the lforegoing, it will be seen that I have provided a device which is extremely simple, inexpensive to produce and eiiicient in o eration.
A though by `the foregoing, I have described certain elements as best adapted to 4perform the functions ascribed to them, nevertheless, it is to be understood that vari' ous minor changes as to form, substance, etc., may be resorted to within the scope of the ap ended claims without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention. a
Having thus described my invention, what ."I claim is:

A device of the character specified comprising a main casing, cylindrical in formation and formed at one extremity with an air inlet, a supplemental casing having'one end closed, the other telescopically engaged with the inner end of said main casing, an integrally formedvhollow extension projecting from the closed end of said'main casing to said supplemental casing, said extension having one end communicating with the interior yof said main casing, the other.regis vtering'with an opemng formed in said supplemental casing, a motor in the latter, a
