Beit v'known that l, STEPHEN J. ANDER- soN, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at' the city. of Harvey, in the county of Cook.v and State ofV Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Walls for Buildings and the like, of which the' folf'- 'lowing -is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in structureahiiilding, and has particular relation lto Walls and' mainly to the outside walls' of buildings, yet itgis applicable to other kinds of Walls, and itconsists-in certainpeculiarities of theconstruction, vnovel 4 'I parts thereof,

To prevent the passage of moisture through the Wall or to insulate the same against moisture or dampness, the exterior surfaces of the blocks 'i' may be .coatedwith asphalt 23 or Coal-tar, or any/'suitable rnoisture resisting material, end'tor the saine urpose the inner surfaces of the recesses 18 and 22j as well as the ends of the blocks i?, may be treated or provided with similar material before said blocks' are placed in position. By this arrangement the concrete columns 13 and the mortar between the blocks are insulated in such. a manner that said niaterialcannot act as moisture conductors' and an absolutely vxnoisture prooi` structure will. be produced.
