Be it known that l, Lansino Ononiinonn, a citizen of the United States, residing'at New York, in the county of New `iork, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blindstitch Sewing-Machines, (Case (1,) of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters and figures of vreference marked thereon.
,My invention relates to new and useful improvements in blind stitch sewing machines, andhas for its object to provide means :for properly holding and guiding the material to the stitching mechanism.
A. further object of my invention is to provide means for properly guiding 4the needle so as to prevent all undue lateral vi bration thereof.
Stili further objects of my invention will in part be obvious and will in part be more fully hereinafter pointed out.

The work support l, carries a ridge -l'orniing member 2 having formed therewith leeding surfaces 3, 3. The overliangiiig arm et is provided withA a bearing in which is mounted a stud t3, which is tapered asshown in Fig. 3 of the drawing, and extends outwardly at each side of said bearing. The collar 7, surrounds the stud and a nut 8 threaded on said stud, liriiily holds the stud Between the nut 8 and .the frame of the machine, are mounted two collars 9 and l0. The collar 9 is provided with an outwardly ends, and serves -by means or' the crimping ridge.

outwardly and downwardly extending arm 13 which vcarries a presser member 14, at its lower end. .A spring l5, mounted on a pin 1G at its upper end, engages the arm 11 which supports the presser member 12, and hoids the same yieldii'igly against the side of the ridge crimping' member 2. yThe adjustable thumb screw l?, carried by the lug 18 engages the spring l5 between its ends, and by adjusting said screw, the tension on said spring may be varied.
A stop nut i9 serves to lock the adjustable screw in its adjusted positions. rI'he spring 20 carried by the` pin "3l at its upper end, engages tho arm 13, which supports the presser member 14. An adjustable screw 22 carried by a lug' Q3, engages said spring between its as a means for varying the tension ol said spring. The stopl nut 2l, serves as a means for locking the adjusting screw in its adjusted position.
Located iiiterii'icdiate thevarms ll and 13, is a shaft 25 which vcarries at its forward end a hand lever 26. ,The shaft 25 carries at its rear end a cam member 27, which is located in the plane of the-arms ll and 13. When the "-lever 2G is turned by hand, the cam portions of the cam :2.7, engage 'the arms 1l and 13 and separate thesame, thus, moving the presser members from the ridge forming member.

'llhe presser member 14 is cut away so as to give clearanceto the needle.
ln Fig. 6,1 have shown the clearance groove in the presser foot as formed on substantially the same arc as the arc of a needle. Bycutting the groove in the presser foot in this manner, l cut away as little material as `possible and furthermore, form a better supporting surface for the needle.
ln lfig. 7, l have shown the shank of 'the presser foot as extending down below the stitching point and the presser foot curved, as at ll', substantially on the same arc .as the'crimping rib so/ that the material after passing the stitching point will be deflected downward and properly held relative to the crimping member and work support. lt will also be noted from this figure that the front portion of the work support extends upward above the stitching point, so that the material may be readily inserted beneath the presser foot.
Having `thus particularly .described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 1. The combination with an overhanging arm, a curved needle, means for oscillating the saine,` a work support, a crimping ridge carried thereby, presser mcmbcrs'piv oted so as to swing independently on an axis fixed relative to the overhan'ging arm and coincident with the axis of the needle, and means for swinging the presser niembers on said axis.
