I attain this and other objects of my invention in the preferred embodiment thereof set forth in the following description and the accompanying drawing in which likereference characters refer to corresponding parts.

My invention generally consists of the supporting strap A carrying at its lower extremity the connecting piece or binder B, which latter in turncarries the loop C and button tab D. A button E is mounted on the lower extremity of the tab D. The supporting strap A, wire loop C and button tab D are of the usual construction in garment supporters of this character, the novelty in my invention residing in the construction of the connecting piece which binds all of the parts together. This connecting piece B consists of a body plate 2 having side lugs 3, 3, and a tongue 4. This tongue 4 is usually narrower than the body plate 2, which latter is preferably of the same width as the sup-- porting strap A. The connecting piece is further provided with a slot disposed transversely thereof near to where the tongue 4 joins the body plate 2, and this slot 6 is of a length equal to or greater than that of the tab D. The loop C is preferably made resilient so that its opening in under the top bars is of such a width that it can be sprung or spread slightly when the top bars are passed over the tongue. .This resilient action causes the top bars to clip or frictionally engage the side edges of the tongue, so that when the top bars 9, 9 are drawn down into the angle formed between the tongue 4 and the body plate 2 the extremity 7 of the tab is'held against the inside of the tongue thereby preventing the tab from falling out during the process of assembling. This enables so much of the assembling as has already been described to be performed away from the machine, which is utilized in the second operation. After the parts are thus assembled the connecting piece B is placed in a suitable machine wherein the top bars 9, 9 of the loop are raised sufiiciently to permit the insertion of the extremity 8 of the supporting strap in under the top bars of the loop, after which the top bars are again drawn back into the angle formed between the tongue and the body plate. The machine is then operated to roll the tongue 4 and extremity 7 of the tab around the top bars 9, 9 of the loop so that their extremities or edges 5 and 10 respectively are pressed against the supporting strap just as the latter passes behind the top bars 9, 9. At the same time the machine presses down the side lugs 3, 3 against the supporting strap A so that the latter is \securely confined or gripped between the body plate 2 and the side lugs 3, 3. In this manner not only the loop and button tab ,rbut also the supporting strap is swedged to the binder B so that the parts cannot become disassembled without destroying the device, thereby effecting a permanent and secure 7 connection between all of the parts.
