FRANK M. KLEINE, OF DULUTH, MINNESOTA.
VACUUM MASSAGE-CUP.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 16, 1915.
Application filed April 4, 1914. Serial No. 829,682.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK M. KLEINE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vacuum Massage- Cups, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a vacuum massage cup composed of a plurality of cups mounted one within the other to procure a double cupping action.
A further object is to so construct one of the members, that it can be attached to the usual motor shafts, and to so intergear this member with the remaining member that they have turning movements in opposite directions.
Further objects and novel features of the invention will hereinafter be more fully described in connection with the accompanying drawing and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawing :Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of my invention with the im pelling motor indicated in dotted line, and Fig. 2 is a similar view with parts in section.
As illustrated, the frame A has a clamp 2 at the upper end by which it may be secured to the hub bearing 3 of the case of an impelling motor which may be of the standard type and the connection and positioning of which is disclosed in Fig. 1. A cup shaft 1 on the lower end of which is carried the vacuum cup 5, is mounted in a bearing 6 on the frame to have revoluble or oscillatory movement transmitted thereto by its connection with the motor shaft 3 journaled in the hub 3 to which the clamp 2 is secured and7is held against displacement by a collar A sleeve 8 is revolubly mounted on the shaft 10 below the bracket, and at its lower end has a vacuum cup 9 mounted to fit around the cup 5. The upper end of the shaft 4 is shaped to fit and be held within the motor shaft so that it will transmit the movement therefrom.
A bevel gear 11 is connected to the shaft A and meshes with a similar bevel gear 12, mounted on a stud shaft 13, carried by the frame 1. Said gear 12, in turn, meshes with a gear 14: secured to the sleeve 8, so that movement is transmitted from the shaft 4 through bevel gear 11, 12 and 14 to turn or oscillate the sleeve 8 and, consequently the vacuum cup 9 carried thereby in a direction opposed to the movement of the cup 5.
From the foregoing, it will be seen that I have provided a structure, which by reason of the fact that the cups are mounted one within the other, and to rotate in opposite directions, gives a double cupping action and consequently accomplishes more efiicient results, further, it will be obvious that I have provided a structure which may be attached to the standard motor now in use for such devices without in anywise altering that motor.
I claim 1. A vacuum massage instrument comprising a plurality of cup members mounted one within the other, and means to transmit turning motion to said cups in opposite directions relative to each other.
2. A vacuum massage instrument comprising a plurality of cup members mounted one Within the other, means to transmit turning motion to said members in opposite directions relative to each other, and means by which said turning mechanism may be connected to receive impelling motion from an outside force.
3. A vacuum massage instrument comprising a plurality of cup members mounted one within the other, means to connect one of said members to a motor adapted to transmit a turning motion thereto, and means connecting said members to communicate a reverse turning motion to the other member.
4:. A vacuum massage instrument comprising a frame, a plurality of cup members carried by said frame to be capable of turning motion and mounted one within the other, and means connected with said frame to cause turning movement of said cups in opposite directions relative to each other.
5. A vacuum massage instrument comprising a frame, means by which the frame may be connected with an impelling mechanism, a plurality of cups carried by said frame to be capable of turning motion and mounted one within the other, and means connected to turn said cups in opposite directions relative to each other and to derive its operating force from the mechanism with which the frame is connected.
6. A vacuum massage instrument comprising a frame, a shaft mounted in said frame to have turning movement, a collar mounted upon said shaft to also be capable of turmng movement, cup members carried 7 by said shaft and collar to be mounted one Within the other, and a connection between said shaft and collar so arranged that turning m ovement transmitted'to the shaft 'causes the collar to be revolved in the opposite direction.
l 7, A vacuum massage instrument comprising a plurality 'ofcup members mounted one ithin the other, means to connect one of saidfcu'p' m'embers to a motor adapted to transmit a turning motion thereto, and a gear; connection between said @6111) rnember and the remaining cup member so for'med g'hatapon movement of "said fireman-memb1=-*s;ai1- ena cap member is" turned in the opposite direction.
v "8. A vacuum massage instrument comprisingfa frame, 'a shaft mounted to have turning'movemenhin said frame, a collar mounted 'on' said shaft to also be capable of turning motion, cup members carried by said shaft andcollar, to be mounted one Within" thf e'f other i members carried by b oth'thefshaftand collar, "a gear carried the frame v to mesh With each of said gears, and an ofsaidfp'arts soar-ranged that turning movementtransmitted 1 to thesh'aft causes the "collar anjdi'n consequence the cup carried thel'ieby to be turned fan Opposite' direction relative to the direction of movement of thec'up' carried. by the shaft.
9. vafcuum sage instrument comprisingaframe, [fa shaft mounted 'in "said name 1 to be capable of turnin movement,
means by which said frameina'ybdconnectted to animpelling mechanism whereby motionmay be transmitted to said shaft, a collar loosel mounted on said shaft, a gear carried-bysaid shaft, a second gear mounted on said collar, and a gearrevolubly mounted on the frame to mesh With each of saidgears and to cause turnin motion transmitted to theshafttobe'translated to the collar to cause turning thereof'in the opposite direccollar, a1 bevel gear revolubly mounted on the'franieto mesh With each of said afore-- mentioned gears, and all of'said parts so arrangedthat motion transmitted to the shaft causes rotation of the cup carriedthegtby i'n'one direction and through the intergearing with the" collar 1 causes'the second cup to be turned in an opposite} direction. w
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two'witnesses.
