Description of the Accompanying Drawing.
Figure 1 is a plan view of partvof a rai1road-track, showing my improved hose-protector;
Figure 2 is a transverse section on the line 1 2, g. l; l
Figure 3 is a perspective view of abox or case which may be used in carrying out my improvement; and
Figures 4, 5, and 6, perspective views ofthe covers of the box.
General Description'.
A A are cross-ties, arranged in the usual'manner, and supporting stringere B B, to which are secured the rails E;
A chamber or recess is formed below and beyond the rails; and in this recess, in the present instance, is tted a box, D, the ends of which extend beyond the outer sides of the rails.
The ends of the stringers abut against the sides of the box-ribs e e,on which conne the stringere laterally;
and in the bottom ofthe box are openings for the passage of water and for the reception of spikes a, by which the box is secured to the cross-ties.
To the top of the box, between the rails, are fitted lids F, which, in the present instance, are detachable, although they may be secured permanently to or form a part of the box; and to the ends of the box which extend beyond the rails are fitted detachable llids G G Y V yond the rails, being covered between the rails, and
provided, at the, outer sides of the latter', with detachable or movable lids, in the same manner -as the box.
C' laten.
. The within-described boxI), with its recesses f j, ribs c e, and covers F G, as set forth.
