IMPROVEMENT IN \ALE 0R BEER-COCKS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be itknown that I, HENRY GETTY, of the city of Hoboken, State of N ew Jersey, have invented, made, and applied to use a vnew and improved Ale-Cock; and I' do declare the following to be a full, clear, and

oorrect:descriptiou of the same, reference being hadl an ale-cock with a hollow box or projection forthe reception of a coupling, said box having a recess at one end to receive 'a washer, and at the opposite end a thumb-screw for the purpose of fastening the coupling in its place. l

It' also consists in providing a coupling 'with around project-ion to fit the washer in the cock, and a flange to rest on the hollow box -or projection of the alecoclr, so as to hinge the round projection of thecoup- -ling always to the center of the said hollow box or projection and opposite the washer.

To enable those skilled in the arts -to make and use my invention, I will `now describe the constructionand operation of the same.

The cock M, fig. l, is cast with a hollow box or projection, B, said box being provided with a recess, C, for the reception of a washer at its inner end, and itis tapped at the opposite end for the reception of a thumb-screw, A, figs. 1 and 4, the use of which. will hereafter be fully described.

O, gs. 2, 3, and 4, is a coupling, having anL- shaped'passage-way; it is also provided with a round projection, P,'and a ange, F, the use of which will be' hereafter fully explained.

fEhe coupling O is soldered at its upperend to the suction-pipe of the aleepum'p; said coupling, fits into the hollow boxor projection B, as shown very clearly ing. 4.

Having thus`f'ully described the different parts of my invention, I will .now proceed to explain the operation. of the same.

The cock KM is driven into the keg, and the coupling O, with 'the suction-pipe attached, is inserted in the hollow. box or projection B. The thumb-screw A is then screwed up vand presses the coupling forward; the round part ofthe couplingP is then forced y againstthe washer in the cavity C of the hollowbox or projection B, thelever N of the cock M is then turned, and the 'connect-ion with the pump is complete. l

Having thus'fully explained my invention, and described the operation ofthe same,

f* What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The hollow box or projection B, with its recess G, and thumb-screw A, for the purposes shown and described.

v2. The coupling-O, constructed as shown, for the purposes specified.

A3. 'lhe combination of the hollow box or projection B with the recessC, thumb-screw A, and coupling O, the Whole arranged substantially as shown, and for the purposesspeciii'ed.
