FLUD-OERATED PERCUSSEV TOOL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed .Tune 9, 1914. Sez/a1 No. Sf.
ie it known that Lziifis C. Harms, a eitivzen ol' the United l'tates, residingat 'Has ton, in the county of iorthainpton anti State et ieniisyivania, have inrenteda certainv new anni iiseiini improvement in Fluid-0poraieil Pere: wire Tools, ot which the iiol lowing isf a specification.
rhis im'ention relates to i'inid operated permissive tools, and more. miftxoiiiarly to tools of the type wherein. the admission oi' .finiti is controlled primariiy by the morei v piston and valve in different positions.
n the drawings is shown a too/i i'iaring z ojiiiniier l comp.. sing' a smaller rearward hero` and a larger orwarii bore 3. At the saine time the rear face of the shank 6 will uncover passage 17 allowing fluid under .pressure to enter the rear end of the valve chest 10 and throv\7 the valve 15 forvvard.l This will allow iiuid to pass to the forward end of the bore 3 through the passage l2, While at the same time passage 11i will be connected with port 13. IThis position of the 10 parts is shown in Fig. l. The piston will therefore move rearwardly the admission of iiuid to the front end of looi'e 3 continuing until the rear end of the shank 6 cuts off port 11. When the piston nears the rear end of 15 its stroke pressure Will again he admitted to the back end of bore 3 and hence the for- Ward end of the valve chest 10, while the fluid in the rear end of lthe valve chest Will be exhausted through passage 12-and port 19 and also through leak port 18, the valve moving rearwardly and the above cycle of oper tions being repeated.
Although the tool as here shown has intermittent pressure in the rear end of bore 3,
this might loe eliminated and the valve 15- only control the admission and exhaust to the front end ofV bore 3, and it is to be understood, that While the present showing and description discloses only one specified modification of this inventiomotlier forms and modifications are included in the spirit and scope of the invention as expressed in /the claims.
