have invented' cert-aiu newand usefull Improvement' in Evaporating Apparatus; and to enable others skilled in' the art tomake and use the same, I will r proceed to descr'ibe,-1'efe1ring to thedrawing, in which the same letters indicate like parts in each of the figures.

The nature of ,this invention consists inarranging two or more evaporating-pans'over the fire-arch y or furnace, made either (the dre-arch or furnace) ista- 'tionary or portable, `one oi' which is or may be hinged Aat the rear end of and covers a divided portion of said arch, so that'the sirup may be drawn iro'ln the rst pan into Athe secoxnl pan for nishg' ing, and, when nished, it may be drawn oii' orf discharged from the pau, by elevating -one end or side thereof in a direction toward the chimney, and al'- low the sirup or finished sugar to iow therefrom through: the ontletnozzle, extending 'back by the side ofthe chimney. It consists further inthe arrangement of a series of dampers directly under a finishingcompartment ot' an evaporating-pan, or d irectly 'under a distinct l hinged finishing-pan, so that, when the dampers `are opened at'auangle of about forty-tive degrees, the direct dranghtxvll be checked, Yand the force of the heat will be thrown directly against the bottom of the pan, and when thev Sirup or sugar is iinished and .it becomes necessary to discharge the sirup or sugar from the pan, by simply closing the dampers the. heat will be entirely'closed ofi' from the underside of `thepan, and the evaporation of the first `part of-the pan will be going on without interruption while the Viinishing-pan is being discharged.
