CHARLES W. -LUTTRELL, OF BRONTE, TEXAS.
FAN ATTACHMENT non snwme-ivrncnmnsi l Application filed April 15, 1914.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES W. LUT- 'rnELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bronte, in the county of Coke and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Fan Attachment for Sewing-Machines; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new and useful improved fan attachment for sewing machines, and an object of the invention is to construct a fanning attachment having connections with the pedal of the sewing machine, so as to automatically actuate the fan, as the pedal is operated.
One of the features of the invention is the provision of adjustable connections between the fan and the pedal, so as to increase or decrease the movement of the fan.
In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations, falling within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings :F igure 1 is a view showing the improved fanning attachment as applied to a sewing machine. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail View of the fanning attachment detached, showing the details of construction.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the usual form of sewing machine, while 2 denotes the bracket standard secured by a clamping connection 3 to the machine top. This clamping connection comprises the clamp 3 having the spaced apart lugs between which the machine top bed plate engages, there being the thumb screw 3 passing through one of the earsfor clamping the clamp in place. This standard is held adjustable in the clamp by means of the set screw 4. On the lower end of the standard below the clamp is a guide member 5 secured in place by thumb screw 6. The guide part has a pivotal movement and is desig nated by the numeral 7, and through it the pitman 8 is slidably guided. The lower Specification of Letters Patent.

end of the pitman is connected at 9 'to-the pedal 10 of the sewing machine. The connection 9 comprises the bolt 9*, which passes throughthe slot 9 of the arm of the pedal, and is provided with a thumb nut 9". By this construction the lower end of the pitman is held adjustable with the pedal. The upper end of the pitmanhas an adjustable connection 11 with one arm of the bell crank 63 1 be lowered or raised, so as to be arranged in different positions relative to the machine operator. As the pedal is operated the fan i is oscillated, thereby keeping the. operator coo The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is p In combination, a bracket standard, a!'
clamp holder through which the standard passes and is adjustably arranged, said clamp holder being clamped to a sewing machine, a pitman having its lower end pivotally connected to the pedal of the machine, an oscillating guide adjustably mounted upon the bracket standard, and through which said pitman is guided, a holding bracket adjustably mounted upon. the upper end of the standard, a bell crank fan.
lever pivotally and adjustably mounted in 90.,
the holding bracket and having one arm adjustably connected to the upper end of the pitman, and a fan adjustably mounted in the other arm of said lever.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. 1
