Description

hole, whereupon the to the press and the sliding head c moves downwardly. lt will be seen by virtue of the punch holder being already in its lower position`r the saine does not move to ellect the punching of a hole until the sliding head c is brought in contact with the punch holder a., whereupon the punch or die is then forced through the work in the usual manner. lllhen the punch holder a. is in the lowered position in the slide c thefpin 'l' which is adjacent the lever 9 retains the latter out ol engagement with the shank 5, but upon the slide c descending and contacting with the punch holder, the lever 9 springs into engagement with'the punch holder, and
then as the slide c is directed upwardly, the
punch holder is also carried upwardly therewith where it may again be adjusted for a subsequent operation.
It is. obvious that those skilled in the art may vary the details of construction and arrangements of parts without departing from the spirit of my invention and therefore l do not wish to be limited to such features except as may be required by the claims.
lVhat is claimed as new is:
l. In a punch press, the combination of a sliding head provided with an adjustable punch holder. a spring actuated lock mounted on the sliding head for locking the punch holder thereto, and a means mounted on the sliding head and carried thereby ior adjusting the punch holderupon the disengagement of the lock.
2. In a punch press, the combination of a sliding head provided with a vertically adjustable punch holder, a spring actuated lever mounted on the sliding head and engaging the punch holder.l"or locking the saine to the sliding head, and means for adjusting the punch holder u pon the disengagement of the lever from the punch holder.
3. In a punch press, the combination of a sliding head provided with a vertically adjustable punch holder, a spring actuated lever mounted on the sliding head and engaging the punch holder for locking the saine to the sliding head, and a means mounted on the sliding head and carried the punchi holder thereby for adjusting upon the disengagementl of the spring actuated lever.
