IMPROVEMENT IN LUBRICATIN G COMPOUNDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 112,489, dated March 7, 1871.
To all whom it may-concern:
Be it known that LVIOTORY PURDY, of Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Anti-Friction Compound and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same. p
This invention relates to a new and useful compound for lubricating railroad-car axlejournals and other journalbearings, or other bearings liable to heat, which compound consists of the following-described ingredients, mixed togetherin about theproportions stated palm-oi], four and ahalf pounds; beeftallow, two and a half pounds; sal-soda, twelve ounces; borax, two ounces; rock-salt, two ounces; water, one quart.
