Description

I, GONWELL @z H. E. HITTLE.
HEATER POR GASEOUS FUEL.
APPLICAUUN FILED JUNE so, 1913.
gl Patented Jan. 12, 1915 ililsi is w sorbing and distributing a large amount of the heat ordinarily lost, which in turn is absorbed by the mixtures being drawn through the carbureter and intake, the balile plate distributing and causing a more intimate mixture of the mixed gases in the heater and forcing them to absorb the heat radiated from the heated flanges.
What we claim is:
`l. i gaseous mixture heater, comprising an elongated flattened easing having a plurality ot orifices, means to connect a pair of oppositelj,7 disposed orifices intermediate the carburetor andthe intake vmanifold of an internal combustion engine, a plurality of flanged tubes supported in registering and oppositely disposed orifices in said casing, means to direct heated gases from the eX- haust of an' internal. combustion engine through said tubes, and a battle plate supported Within s'aid casing, whereby the explosive mixture Will be carried in Contact with the hanged tubes` and through said easing.
2. A gaseous mixture heater comprising an elongated {iat-tened vcasing ha'vingllanges on its flattened portion adapted to be secured to the adjacent anges 'of the carbureter and the intake manifold', said casing having oppositely disposed open ings to register with the openings through said intake and said carbureter, an oriieed endvwall, tubes supported inthe orifices in said end'wall, a plurality of flange-like ringsiassembled on said tubes, an .Il
end plate adapted to support the free enzls of said. tubes, a closure cap adapted to be cured to the end wall oit' said casing, and a closure. provided with a plurality oi: split sockets adapt-ed to be secured to the end of l the casingprovided With the orificed plante.
3. A heater for gaseous fuel, comprising tween the inlet and outlet openings and the tubes, each oi said baille plates having'a central conical portion formed with an opening in its apex.
In Witness that We claim the foregoing We Ahave hereunto subscribed our naines this lQth day of June, 1913.
