TOY.
Application filed August 14, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Marrm WiLLIAMs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bertha, in the county of Douglas, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be ,a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to ed figure type.
An object of the )resent invention is to provide a dancing ligure toy that may be operated from a vibratory board which is struck by the governor balls of a graphephone whereby upon the graphophone being. played the jointed figure will simulate a dance to the music.
A further object of the invention is to provide a toy of this character that may be attached to graphophones now inuse Withtoys of thcijoint out extensive alterations.
A further object is to provide a device of this character that will be formed of a few simple and inexpensive parts that will not easily get out of order.
With the above objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be made in the minor details of construction within the scope of the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating this invention :Figure 1. is a side elevation showing the application of a toy to a disk graphophone. ig. 2 is a fragmentary horizontal section taken on the line 22 Fi 1 showing the vibratory board and governor of the graphophone. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view on the line 33 Fig. :2. Fig. 4- is a front elevation of the dancing figure. Fig. 5 is a. fragmentary view showing the joints of the figures legs. Fig. dis a fragmentary View showing one of the arm joints.
Referring now to the drawing in which like chin-actors of reference designate similar parts, 10 designates in general an ordinary disk graphophone. in carrying out my invention I provide a spring board 11 which is provided at one end with a curved attaching foot 12 that is secured by screws Specification of Letters Patent.
- ing and Patented Jan. 5, 1915. Serial No. 784,823.
18 or otherwise to the bottom of the graphephone casing insuch a manner that the spring board projects forwardly over the governor balls 1-4- of the graphophone lightly touching the governor balls, and projects at the free end horizontally out of a slot 1:? in the side of the graphophone casing. It is evident that when the gra h0- phone is running that the governor alls during their rotation will beat a tattoo on the bottom face resultant vibratory motion being imparted to the latter.
A dancing figure or doll 16 is yieldably supported upon a spring arm 17 that is attached to the back of the body'18 of the doll and is attached to the top of the graphophone casing above the spring board 11. The arm joints and leg joints of the doll are articulated, being interfitted in tongue and groove construction as shown at 19 and 20 with pivot pins 21 passed through the tongues and grooves. 'By virtue of the (1011' being held upright at the back with the feet loosely bearing upon the spring board, a. motion as of jigging will be imparted to the doll by the vibratory movement of the spring board.
From the above description it'will be seen that I have provided an exceedingly amus simple toy that may be attached to graphophoncs of ordinary type without 3.1- teration and which toy will be inexpensive to manufacture and formed of a few parts that will not easily get out of order.
What is claimed, is:-
1. '1 he combination with a graphophone of a my in the nature of an articulated doll, and a vibratory spring board lightly bearing upon the graphophone governor balls and actuated by the latter to impart'a'jig ging movement to the doll.
2. The combination with a graphophone of a toy in the nature of an articulated doll, means for yieldably attaching the body of the doll to the graphophone casing, and a vil'iratory springboard within snide-casing attached at one end to the casing and having the free end bearing lightly upon the graphophone balls and passed through a slot in. said casing, and lightly touching the feet of said doll, rotation of said balls im- 'iarting a vibratory movement to said board with resultant imparting of a jigging movement to said doll.
5 of the spring board with a. i
In combination with a graphophone, govemoy balls of the gruphophonc IHLL'lHI" an zn'tlculated. figure reslhently suspended mam (mung than rotnhon whereby the nfrom a portlon of the graphophone cgsmg brat-1011 of and strip W111 :lgltnte smd figure.
and means operable by the mechanism of In testimony whereof, I afllx my signa- 5 the graphophono for in'lpzu'i'ing moizion to time, in the presence of two witnesses.
