To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EMILIO FoLTznR, gentleman, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at Rivarolo Ligure, Italy, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wax or Paraffin Lamps, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention has for its object to provide an improved wax or paraflin lamp in which all of the melting wax or paraffin is taken up by the wick which is thereby always kept thoroughly impregnated.

My said improved paraflin lamp is shown by way of example in one of its forms in the annexed drawing, where Figure 1 is a vertical section; Fig. 2 a plan View, and Fig. 3 a front view.

According to the drawing, 1 is the wick tube placed within the lamp, from the wall of which it is insulated by an asbestos washer, 2, or other insulating material, whereby all of the heat absorbed from the flame is transmitted to the wax which melts abundantly.

The wick tube, 1, which is metallic and preferably made of brass, is somewhat fiattened; and it is provided at its ends with rings, 15 and 16, being held at its lower end by a support, 12, which is fixed on the bottom, 10, of the lamp, 6. The tube is provided throughout its length with small wings, 5, which are stamped out of the metal and which serve to transmit the heat to the wax. The holes formed by the stamping out of the wings, 5, permit the liquefied fuel to saturate the wick.

At its upper end the wick tube is supported by a threaded socket, 13.

In the front the lamp has a supporting arm, 9, carrying an oscillating snuffer com posed of two toothed jaws or nipper levers, 4, which serve to snuff and pull the wick. As the bottom of the lamp would get cool by standing directly on the table and freeze the melted paraffin, a round foot has been provided to prevent the bottom from coming in contact with the supporting object.

The cotton wick, 3, which before being woven is previously saturated with melted paraflin, may be intertwisted with copper threads, but no claim is made for this matter.

I claim:

1. In a lamp of the character described, in combination, a lamp body and a metal wick tube therein, said tube being provided with outwardly extending wings, said wings being stamped up from the metal of the tube whereby holes are formed through which the fuel may pass to the wick, said wings being positioned within said body and out of contact with the walls thereof.

2. In a lamp of the character described, in combination, a lamp body, a support therein adjacent the lower part thereof, a wick tube having its lower end engaging and supported by said support, and a support for the upper end of said tube removably engaging said lamp body, said tube being insulated from said last-mentioned support.
