This invention relates to means for'enabling the. platen to berelea-sed from the control of the usual line-space wheel.
Tn carryingout the invention, the usual line-space wheel is provided with a drum; and an arm within said drum but connected to the platen has a frictional bearing upon the interior periphery of the drum. This bearing is in such a place, and the arm is so pivoted, that an are described by the arm about its pivot would be very nearly parallel with the internal periphery ofthe drum. A spring tends to turn the arm about its pivot, to force it into wedging engagement with said internal periphery of the drum. The edge 6 of the disk fits in a recess in the line-space wheel, to prevent axial displacement of the latter, which is confined between said disk and a cover plate 26.
