lie it known that 1, ROBERT Moore, a subject of the Kingdom of Great Britain, residing at Tuxedo Park, in the county of Orange, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Racket Clamps and Cases, of which the following is a clear, full, and exact description.

This invention relates to a combined racket clamp and easing, the object being to provide a device of this character which will inclose the racket and prevent moisture from affecting the strings, and which at the same time will compress a clamp upon the wooden rim of the racket to keep the same straight to prevent warping.

lleretofore it has been the practice to either carry the racket in a case and clamp it in position by a clamp when not being used, or to carry it in the clamp which does not protect the strings from moisture.

In carrying out my invention I make use of a clamp having two members which may be moved toward and away from each other by suitable screws or the like, and I connect the periphery of these members with a yielding material in a bellows like manner,

so that while air is excluded from between the members, nevertheless they may be moved toward and away from each other.

The scope of'my invention will be pointed out in the claims.

I prefer to supply a number of studs with a spring 10 tending to hold apart the two frame sections. At a point where the racket handle protrudes from. the device I provide preferably a rubber covered post 11, and from that post extending around the periphery of the two frames I fasten a flexible air inclosmg strip 12 securely to both frame members, so that it will reach from the post 11 around two complete sides to a position about half way on one of the long sides of the frame. leaving an opening between the end of this strip and the post 11 through which the racket may be inserted into the frame. After inserting the racket so that its periphery comes within the clamping frame members 1 and 2, the wing nuts 6 are all tightened in position; the stud 7 is thrown into the position shown in full lines Fig. 3, and its nut secured; then by means of a flexible strip 13 secured at 14 to the strip 12, I close the opening then left by pulling said strip 13 around the racket entering inclosure. and securing its end by means of a pin 15 passing through a hole in the frame,

the pin 15 preferably being secured in placeby a chain 16. The end of the flexible strip 13 is preferably provided with a compressible hollow rubber end 17, and with a pull ring 18, so that the ring may be grasped to holdthc hollow rubber end in place for the insertion of the pin 15, thus the entire racket is notonly clamped in position to prevent a warping of the' frame, but the strings are protected from moisture for the entire matter is substantially inclosed from the outer air by means of thestrip 12 which is permanently secured to a major part of the periphery, and the flexible strip 13, which is then held in place by the pin 15,

the rubber terminus 17 of the strip 13 and the rubber covered post 11 serving to bind against the handle part of the racket.

I claim as my invention:

1. The herein described combined racket clamp and easing consisting of two covered clamping frames, means permanently atlixed to one of said frames for securing them in clamping position, an air closure, means substantially surrounding the space between the two frames having a removable portion dctachably secured at its end to the frames thereby to permit a removal of the racket from between said frames.

2. The herein described casing and clamp for rackets consisting of two covered clamping members, a plurality of bolts lperma nently secured et one end to one of said members and atthe other end detachably secured to the other member, said bolt-s being positioned outside of the rackets frame, and an air closure means substantially surrounding the members. i
