To all whom it may concern: a
Be it known that we, JOEL SIenL Goss and CHARLES JEFFERSON WILSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Oceanpark,
county of Los Angeles, State of California,
and the city of Los Angeles, county of Los Angeles, State of California, respectively, have invented a new and useful Power- Wheel, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to a turbine which being submerged below the surface of the waves, and where acted upon by the undertow and waves will produce rotary motion.
The objects of our invention are first, to provide continuous motion by single turbines or to connect the same in series by belts, and second to commercialize this motion in producing power.
WVe attain'these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Figure l, is a cross section of the turbine on line (2 of Fig. 2. Fig. 2, is a side elevation showing a pulley on the shaft. Fig.
.4, is an enlarged blade in cross section. Fig,
5, is an enlarged elevation of blade at.
l/ve prefer to construct our invention of sheets of metal 9 and 7: for bottom and top 'plates, spaced a suitable distance apart between which metal blades or are .riveted or bolted to each other and blades 6, to partiand held firmly by the shaft bearings and collars, will be acted upon by the force of the undertow and waves, from any direction, and caused torot'ate about its axis in a positive direction. A belt may be passed over the pulley d and the power transmitted to any desired point.
We claim: I p
1. blades, 6 secured at right angles to plates, 9 v
and it and to partitions c.
2. The combination of a series of blades, a, partitions cf'and top and bottom plates 9 and It forming water tight compartments open at theperiphery of the wheel.
