JOHN L. KUNKLE, OF MCCOYSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
STOOL.
Application filed December 6, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN L. KUNKLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mc- Coysville, in the county of Juniata and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stools, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to milking stools and the object of the invention is to provide a stool of this character having a support for the milk pail or other vessel which can be conveniently swung out of the way when the animal moves so as to avoid upsetting the milk.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which can be adjusted to different heights and which carries a receptacle holder arranged to be adjusted for receiving receptacles of different sizes.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing,
which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 shows a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a detail vertical sectional view. Fig. 4 is a detail per spective view of the receptacle holder.
Referring more particularly to the draw- .ings, 1 represents a stool which is constructed of a seat 2 and the supporting legs 3. Pivoted upon the seat and arranged for lateral swinging movement is the upper arm 4 of the support which is connected by a brace 5 to the lower arm 6, similarly pivoted at its inner end to one of the legs 3. The brace 5 is pivotally connected to the upper and lower arms at and 6 in convergent relation with a connecting piece 5 pivoted to the outer ends of the arms at and 6. The brace 5 is constructed of telescopically connected sections held in adjusted position by a set screw 5 as shown, so as to hold the arms at and 6 in adjusted position vertically. The braces 5 and 5 being arranged at difier- Specification of Letters Patent.

ent angles, when the arms 4 and 6 are moved upwardly the set screw must be loosened so as to permit the lengthening of the brace. When the arms have been placed in their properly adjusted positionthe set screw is tightened so as to prevent swinging of the brace, thereby preventing any change in the adjustment of the arms 4 and 6. If the arms are lowered the set screw 5 must be similarly loosened so as to allow the brace to swing. The upper arms a have attached thereto a pail holder 7.
It will be noticed from the foregoing that the receptacle holder 7 may be adjusted to receive receptacles of difierent size and may be also adjusted as to its height and that the arms are free to move in a horizontal direction so as to obviate the difficulty attending the use of a stationary support or where the pail is held between the knees of the operator or upon the ground.
What is claimed is 1. In a device of the class described, a stool comprising a seat and supporting legs, arms independently pivoted to the seat and one of the supporting legs and arranged for free horizontal and slight vertical movement, means for connecting the arms and holding them in adjusted vertical position and a receptacle supporting ring connected with the outer ends of the arms.
2. In a device of the class described, a stool comprising a seat and supporting legs, arms independently pivoted to the seat and one of the supporting legs and arranged for free horizontal and slight vertical movement, an adjustable brace pivotally connected between said arms and an adjustble receptacle supporting ring mounted on the outer ends of said arms.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature witnesses.
