Description
@sind didn,
EVNS JONES, 0F 'TIDIOUTE PENNSYLVANIA.
Letters atent No. 111,943, dated Febrary 21, 1871.
v' IMPROVEMENT IN LOCK-STOP CQCKS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and matting partof the same.
To all whom 'it muy concern.-
Be it known that I, J. EVANS JONES, of rl idionte, in the county of Warren and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful'ImpI-ovement in Lockstop Cock; and I-do hereby declare/that the following is 'a i'ull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawingr forming part of this specication.
The object of this invention is to provide suitable and efficient meansl for pressing -in and locking a stopcock in its seat, so that it cannot be tampered with or loosened so as to leali; and A It consists in applying a bridle. and cap connected and arranged to operate as hereinafter more fully described.
"lfhe accompanying drawing is a sido view of a stopcock secured according to my invention.
Suitable letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the shell or seat oi' the stopcock, which is bored out and the cock fitted thereto in the ordinary inanner.
Upon the lower end of the cock there is a nut, B.
'The upper end of the cock extends up through the opposite sides of the shell, to which the'conducting-- pipe is attached.
D is a bridle of' iron rod, which surrounds the shell' beneath thc projections O with its looped. ends extending out for connecting with the bolts E F, and attaching the lock, as seen in the drawing.
G is a cap, which is made to fit over the stem or upper end of the cock.- H H are ears on opposite sides of' the cap, which receive the bolts E F.
The nuts I on the boit F rest in a recess in the top of the cap, and is thereby prevented from turning. The recess is secu in dotted lines.
c J is a wing-nut on the bolt E, and is prevented from turning by means of the rod K, which is attached to the nut, and passes down through shackle L of the loclrM, as seen in the drawing.
lhebridle loop passes through the eye of the boit` E, and receives the shackle 0f the lock, the whole arrangement being plainly seen in the drawing.
By this means the cock is pressed tightly into its seat and securely fastened in that position.`
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patexitl.
In combination with a stop-cock, the bridle D, cap G, bolts E'and E, the nuts I and J, rod K, and lock M, arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein shown and described. J. EVANS JONES.
Witnesses Clins.4 H. CUsHmG. WM. T. SCHEIDE.
