To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that 1 REG1IN.-\Ll) L. More, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in W ardrohe Sets. of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to wardrobe sets, that is, devices for hanging garments in a wardrobe or closet, and its chief object is to provide a set which when used in. conncction with any ordinary closet hook will enable a half-dozen or more garments to be suspended tl'iereirom instead of but two, or at most three, as heretofore has been the case.

A further object is to provide a set whose various parts are collapsible into compact form, so that it can. be conveniently carried by travelers.

A further object is to provide a set which can be made entirely of wire, bent to shape, thereby making the device inexpensive to manufacture.

To these and other ends the invention consists in the novel features of construction and combinations of elements hereinafter described, and more particularly set forth in the appeneded claims.

A convenient and effective form of the in vention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which the device is shown in perspective.

The body of the garment support, on which the coat is hung, is formed of a single piece of stiff wire, provided at one end with a suspending hook 10. Below the hook the wire has a straight portion 11, at the bottom of which the wire is bent in an obtuse angle to form an inclined portion 12. At the outer end of the inclined portion the wire is coiled helically for one and a half turns, forming the circular loop 13, and then extends horizontally to a similar loop 14 at the opposite side. From the latter loop the wire extends up to and is bent around the stem 10, forming an inclined portion 15 which makes with the stem the same angle as does the other inclined portion 12. Between the vertical end-loops 1,3, 14, the horizontal portion 16 is provided with two horizontal loops 17, 18, to one of which is pivoted a wire clamping member 19 by means of a loop 20 formed by bending the end of the wire. The suspending device is also made of wire, and comprises a back made of a single piece of wire, bent to shape and having upper and lower oppositely inclined portions 26, 27, 28, 29, with end loops 30 and upper and lower loops 31., 32 at the center and in vertical alinement with each other.

At the loop 31 the wire is bent downwardly and passes through the two loops 31, 32, forming a pivot 34. Below the latter the wire is bent forwardly to provide a bar 35 on which the garment hangers may be suspended. At the point 36 the wire is bent upwardly and forwardly, then "forms a loop 37 and extends from the latter to the bend at the base of the stem 3 1 to which it is tightly secured by the loop or bend 3S. Pivoted on the inner or rear portion of the loop 37 by means of loops 39, 10, are two wire stays 41, 42, provided at their rear ends with hooks 43, 4:4, tightly but releasably engaging the inner portions of the back loops 30. These stays serve to maintain the forwardly extending hanger in position at right angles to the back when the device is in use.

The suspending device just described is designed to be hung by the ring 33 upon the usual closet hook, and when it is thus suspended the back portion bears against the closet wall and keeps the bar 35 horizontal, while the stays 11, 42, keep it perpendicular to the wall. Any number of garment hangers can be suspended on the bar 35, depending upon the length of the latter. Thus a bar about six inches long will hold six hangers, Whereas the closet hook on which the device is hung Will hold only three garments at most.

WVhen the suspending device is to be collapsed for storing or carrying the stays 41, 42, are disengaged from the loops 30, Whereupon the parts can all be folded fiat upon the back portion.

As Will be seen from the foregoing description the entire outfit or set can be folded into most compact form, occupying a space not much thicker than the Wire itself. When arranged for use it is strong enough for the heaviest garments, and permits the garments to hang in natural folds Without creasing or wrinkling. It can also be manufactured at low cost even when made by hand, as'the manipulations are of the utmost simplicity.

It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise details of con shape and provided With alined upper and lower loops, a frame having a vertical portion pivotally mounted in said loops, and having a suspending'bar at the bottom and means at the top for suspension on a closet hook, and a pair of stays releasably connecting the forward portion of the frame to the back whereby to hold the frame in forwardly extending position With said suspending bar substantially horizontal.

2. In a wardrobe set, a suspending device comprising a back formed of Wire bent to shape and having end loops and alined upper and lower loops, a Wire frame pivotally mounted in the upper and lower loops, ha ing a loop at its forward end and a suspending bar below said for-Ward loop and ex tending rearwardly therefrom, and a pair of stays formed of Wire looped in said'for- Ward loop so as to swing thereon and provided with hooks adapted to releasably engage the end loops on the back.
