As the basket passes over the member 9, the chain will be drawn from the dotted line position of Fig. 1 to the position of Fig. 2.
It should be understood that many changes in the details of construction can be made without affecting the scope of the invention and that numerous appliances well known in the art may be provided by which the operator can control the basket while holding the handle 12 at or near its right end.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a pair of wheels, a horizontally-disposed member supported thereupon, a basket having arms outwardly projecting from said basket and in pivotal relation to said horizontal member, a chain secured to the basket upon the side adjacent said horizontal member, and a handle having means for supporting said chain and through which said chain is adapted to slide.
2, In a device of the character described, the combination of a pair of wheels, a horizontally-disposed member supported thereupon, a basket having arms outwardly projecting from said basket and in pivotal relation to said horizontal member, a chain secured to the basket upon the side adjacent said horizontal member, and a handle formed of a tubular member, said chain being slidably received within said tubular member, said chain being provided with means to limit its movement with respect to said tubular member.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a basket, a pair of wheels, a platform-like member secured to said wheels and upon which the bottom of said basket is adapted to rest, a standard projecting upwardly from said platform-like member, members secured to Said basket and in hinge-like relation to said standard, a
chain secured to the basket at a point upon that side of the basketV normally nearest the wheels, and a handle secured to said platform-like member, said handle being adapted to guide the movement of said chain.
4. In a device of the character described, the combination of a pair of wheels, a basket having arms which project from said basket adjacent the upper edge of said basket, said arms being upon that side of the center of gravity of the basket normally nearest to the wheels, a standard supported by said wheels and with which said arms are in pivotal relation, a chain secured to the basket upon the same side thereof as said v arms, and a handle 1n connection with said wheels and with which said chain is in slidable relation.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aiix my Vsignature in the presence of two witnesses.
