` Beit known that I, ITALO LER'roRA, me? chanic, subject of the King of Italy, residing at Genoa, Italy, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Liquid- Fuel Burners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an apparatus for burning liquid fuel such as tar, which has been atomized by two currents of steam or means of a nozzle provided with a setV of truncated and tapered passages of vvcircular section diverging from the center of v said nozzle.
The principal object of this invention is to provide a new and improved form of burner for liquid fuel, and one whichwill prevent the formation of unburned residues in the nozzle.
Other objects are to provide a simple and eiicient means for regulating the fiame, and also means whereby the burner may be readily cleaned.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section of the appliance; Fig. 2 is a side eleation thereof; Figs. 3 and 4 are en'd viewsof the appliance respectively from either end; Fig. 5 illustrates on a larger scale, a vertical longitudinal section of the nozzle, and of the flange in which provision is made for the passages for the subdivision of the two currents; Fig. 6 illustrates a section on the line 2-2 looking in the direction of the arrows, of the pipe for"the admission of the air in the center of the nozzle and in the flange containing vthe double set of passages.
An annular nozzle member 16 containing the annularly arranged, diverging nozzle outlets 4, is screw threaded into the outer casing 17 of the apparatus. Within the casing is mounted a rotatable forwardly tapering tube 10, having a flange 15 resting against the inner surface of the nozzle member 16. A rearwardly extending and diverg-y passages 4 adapted to be brought into and "out of register with the outlets 4, by rotation of the tube 10. A second annularly arranged series of passages 13lead from the chamber 8 into the respective passages 4.
' In operation, 'the fuel is admitted 4te chamber 6 through pipe 5, while the steam or compressed air, passes into chamber 2 through port 1. Into pipe 3 and chamber 7 there is lled steam for feedin the ejector 11. -In Athis way the fuel in xamber 6 is heated beforehand b the steam in chamber 7 and that in cham er 2. The liquid fuel flows through valve 12 and then jis brought into chamber 8 under the action of the steam current proceeding from the ejectorl 11. Said chamber 8 is dividedfrom chamber A2 for the injecting current by the veXtension 14 of the fiange 15 in conjunction with the tube l0. Provisin is made in the flange for the set of passages 13 for the subdivision of the ejecting current and for the set of comprising a fuel chamber, means for sup-- plying the fuel to the chambery/an outlet valve for said chamber, an ejector arranged adjacent to the outlet valve, means for supplying heated fluid to the ejector, a chamber into Which the ejector forces the fuel, said chamber being provided with an annularly arranged series of outlet passages, a second annularly arranged series of passages, with which said first named passages respectively communicate, means for supplying steam to said last named passages, and means arranged centrally with `respect Ato said passages for supplying air to thearea of com-r bustion.
