To all whom it may concern: i
Be it known that I, BOHUMIL SGHVERMA, a citizen of the United States, residing at `Two Rivers, in the county of Manitowoc and State of "Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molds, of which thefollowing is a specification, reference beingliad tothe accompanying drawings.` i j This invention relates to an impro-ved mold and has for its primary object to produce a device of this character whereby building blocks` may Ibe` expeditiously rIhe invention has for a more particular object to provide a mold including side and end plates, and a simple yand novel frame structure to support saidplates in their erect positions and holdthe sameagainst moveinentby the pressure or' the plastic material upon the same, `said frame including a plurality of expansiblejsections, and means for expanding said sections whereby the frame may be removed. j e j `The invention has for ianother object to generally ziinprove and simplify the construction of molds of the above character, and to enable the `same to be produced ;at comparatively small manufacturing cost.

These enlargements are provided with integrally formed lugs or projections 33 which eXtend at right angles to each other and loosely engage in the grooves'25 formed in the contiguous blocks 24 on the end and side members respectively of the frame. The vertical rods 27 are connected and braced by means of the bars 34. It will be observed that the vrods 27 project below the enlargements 32 and are formed with tapering conical terminals 85 which are adapted to enter the coinciding openings 23 in the engaged plates 22 on the ends of the bars 2l, whereby said frame sections will be securely held against relative movement when the mold is set up in condition for use.
In the use of my improved mold, the side and end plates together with the form members are properly arranged upon the platform or base 7. vThe operator engages the palms of the hands upon the inner ends of the levers 28, and grasps the bars :3l with the fingers. By exerting a downward pressure upon the levers, it will be obvious that the rods 27 are thereby drawn upwardly and the lugs 33 moving in the groove 25 force the side and end sections of the frame outwardly so that said frame may be moved downwardly over the mold form. Upon the release of pressure upon the levers, the frame sections return to their normal positions, and engage against the vertical cleats 8 upon the ends of the mold plates. The upper rectangular frame member 16 rests upon the shoulders 9 formed upon thev upper ends of said cleats. The lower ends of the vertical rods 27 being engaged in the openings 23 effectually hold the frame sections against outward spreading movement when the plastic material is poured into the mold between the side and end plates therelof. After the cement or other materialfhas properly set, the outer expansible frame may be readily removed in the manner above stated and the side and end plates together with the mold forms removed from the molded structure. As shown in the accompanying drawings, it will be seen that the molded cement block is provided with a central opening and semi-circular grooves o-r channels in its end faces, so that when the blocks are assembled in a building wall, the same will form a plurality of air passages therethrough. The central cylindrical v mold form may be readily removed by disposing the plug l-l through the transverse opening l5 provided in the block l2 of said member. By grasping the ends of this plug i which project beyond the opposite sides of the mold member and turning said member, the same may be loosened from the plastic material.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is believed that the construction, manner of operation and several advantages of my invention will be clearly and fully understood.
By the provision of the holding'frame for the mold plates, made up of a plurality of eXpansible sections, the molding of the building blocks may be greatly facilitated.
The device as a whole is very simple in its construction, highly durable and efficient in kpractical use and may beY manufactured for simultaneously moving said frame sec#` tions outwardly with respect to each other,

Ina mold, side and end plates, cleats secured to the outer faces of said plates and provided upon theirupper ends with `shoulders, a frame including a rectangular memy ber adapted to rest upon said shoulders, rel-` atively movable frame sections hingedly mounted upon said member for engagement with the respective mold plates, blocks secured upon the ends of each `of said frame sections, each block being provided `with an obliquely disposed groove therein, plates carried by the frame sections each having an the openings ini` the contiguous i plates registering `with eachjfother when the wardly with respect to eachother away from the mold plates whereby the latter may be removed. i
