To-all whohiitmay concern: 4 Be it known that I, ALPHoNzo WHITE, a
citizen of the United States, residing at lVorcester, in the county .cf Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Device for Shaping Grinding- VVhee1s,'of which the following is a specification. 1
This, invention relates to an attachment tobe used with surface grinding machines.
for shaping"the cutting surfaces of 'the grinding-wheels thereofto any desired'form,

II I On the base'lO are ways 20 on which is a surface 27 which initself constitutes the .gmdmg means for the hardened steel piece. 17 which rests upon-1e;
objects of the invention are I I to provide a simple, compact and efi'ective; shaping device or. this'characterwhich can 'iwhe'e l.v This; constitutes a :On these, -is pivotally mounted a plate 14', movable can be depended;

' claims. Therefore, 'I do not wish'to belim ited in these respects, but
What I do claim 1. The combination with a grinding machinehaving an axially recjp'rocable rotatable wheel, and a work table, of means fifor shaping said wheel comprisilig-afplate' between the wheel and table; means? carried by said plate for-shaping the jwliee l it rotates, and means movable 'aniallg with the wheel for moving said plate an shaping means positively toward the wheel. 1 v
2. In an attachment for grinding muchines, the combination with a base adapted to be applied to the work table of a grind- 1 machine, of a support for a diamond point located oversaid base, and moi able toward and from the. base, and means inovable axially with the grinding wheel-to be operated upon, H and located between isaid base and support, .for controlling the "posi; tion of the diamond point; with nspect to the axis of. the wheel.
3. In an attachmentfor chines-the combination of a base adapted to be attached to the 'workztable of agrinding machine, of a plate movably connected with V said base, a support on said plate for a to be secured to the work table oithe rind-- ing machine transversely thereof an diamond point or other cutting tool, aslide movable along said-base, means for moving said slide with the wheel to be cut, and means movable with saidslide for controlling the axis of the grinding wheel.
4. In an attachment for a grinding ma chine, the combination withla base ada ted arallel with the-grinding wheel"sliaft, p platebetween -said base and the grinding wheel shaft pivoted to one end of said base on an axis parallel with the surface of the work table, a cuttingntool support on saidplate, and a 'member'slidable along said and under said support for engaging said as'e parallel with. the grinding wheel shaft the distance of the .diamondpoint from;
of a
support during its sliding motion and con trolling the pivotal. motion of said plate. -5. In an attachment for grinding machines, the. combination of a base ada ted to be seeuredto the work table of a grin ingl machine, plate pivoted to said base at one end thereof and extendin over the 1 base,-"a supportqn the top of sa1d plate for said base under the late and support and having a master sur ace engaging the bot- E tom of said cutting tool support.
6. In an attachment for grinding ma; chines, the combination of a base adapted to J0 be' secured to the work table of a machine, a plate mounted over said ase andmovable up and down thereon, a support on said plate for aeutting tool, a member slidable along saidbase "under said support and having a master surface engaging the bottom of said cutting tool support, and a spring carried. by said base for holding the cutting tool support down against said mastersurace.
7. In a device for shaping grinding wheels, the combination'with the guard for a grinding wheel movable therewith of a base adapted to be secured to the work table of a grinding machine, a slide movable. along said-base, a templet supported on said base and movable therealong with the slide, movable means connected with said basefor supporting a cutting tool against said temcomprising a bracket connected with said guard and movable therewith.
8. The combination. with 'a grinding machine, having a work table, a grinding wheel .shaft, a grinding wheel, and a guard for the grinding wheel movable along with the grinding Wheel, of'an arm projecting from "said guard and movable therewith, a base :secui'ed to said work table, a slide on the base with and having a templet connected therewith, and a cutting tool support mo'vably connected with; saidybase in position to be operated by said templet as the slide movesalong'the base.
Intestimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. 5.
