a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Johns, in the county; of Multnomah and State of Oregon-,have invented'certain new and useful Improvements in Stools, of WhICh the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawmg. I

This invention relatesto furnitureand has special reference-to a folding and telescopic stool or seat arranged to be carried in pocket when collapsed.

vThe principal object of-the invention is to: improve and simplify the general construction' of devices of this character; v

With the above and other, objects in view, this invention" consists in general of certain constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.

may be held either in collapsed or extended position. plunger 19 carrying eyes 20to which are secured arms 21 having reduced conical ends 22 which fit into reinforced pockets 23 .projecting at the corners of a seat 24 consisting of an air-tight,.flat bag provided withan inflation valve 25. By referring to Figsj8 and 9 it will be seen that the to and bot tom of the seat 25 pass over an fit upon the upper portion of the arms 21, so asto allow-the arms to support the seat without allowing the escaping of air at the corners of the seat, since the arms do not puncture the seat 25 but support the same at the reinforced pockets 23. The corners or edges of the seat may be stitched together so as to hold the seat together and preventth'e escaping of air therefrom. Extending into the plunger 19 is a screw '26 which moves in a slot 27 4 in'l'the member 11, theslotbeing provided at its upper end with an angularly extending portion 28 so that when the device is expanded, the seat may be held in a raised position.

When usingthe device the telescopic sections are extended and locked in the extended position by means of the screw 12. Then the feet are drawn out by properly movingthe screwl6 and locked in expanded position. Next, the plunger 19 is movedupwardly which allows the arms21 to fall outwardly and stretchthe seat 24. Finally, the seat 24 is inflated by blowing or pumping air through the valve 25. In collapsing the device, the reverse of this operation is performed.

There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described, and for the purpose specified.

Having thus described the invention,what is claimed as new, is
