Referring to t .6 drawing, 10 designates: a base of any suitable. or preferred construction, mounted upon casters 11. To the corners of base 10 aresecured anglehraces each formed with a'wingeu -engaging' the end portion of the base 1:0,- and a wing 13cm gaging the side portion of'said base. Side rames: for the receptacle are formed of U-- shaped. rods 14 the depending-ends 15 of which are hinged'or" ivoted to the wings '12 of theres ective ang e braces. Corresponding and ram'es 16 are also formed of U- shaped' rode the depending ends 17\ of which are pivoted to the wings 13 of the corner braces. It will be noted that each side frame adjacent the depending ends 15, is providedwith notches .18 to receive the de* pending ends of the contiguous end frames sons to braceor lock the latter in their open or upright positions. The sides and ends of the receptacle are formed of any suitable flexible material possessing the requisite strength, such as canvas, duck,'or the like. Said flexible material is preferably permanently united to. the side'frames by passing the upper edge portions of the-sides, around the main portions of the respective side frames and sewing or otherwise securing said edges in lace. Likewise the. u per edge of the'flex ble material at the en s of the receptacle is provided with complemental 'fastenin s, such as stud and socket devices 19, w ereby said edges may be remova'bly connected with the main portions of the end frames 16. A cover 20 is provided, the same being formedof flexible materialstifi'ened at its edges by means of a frame 21-, the edge of the material being passed around said frame and suitably secured. Said cover is connected with one'of the sides of the receptacle by means of' a" hinge 22, referably formed of the same material as t e body and top of thereceptacle. Suitable leather hasps 23 are secured to the free edge of the cover 20, and ring like St i' ples 24 are pivotally connected to the upper edge of one of the sides. of the receptacle. It will be noted that the hasps may lie flat againstthe side of the receptaclewhe'n the latter is folded, or if for any reason the hasps are not used. The stud and socket devices 19 perform an important function in that they serve to unite the end walls of the receptacleto the end frames in such manner asto prevent surreptitious removal of the contents of the receptacle.

In practice, the receptacle is rendered ready for use by first lifting the top or cover 20, and then moving the side frames .out-

wardly upon their hinge connections until vertical. The end frames are then swung outwardly upon their hinge connectionthe case'may be, and after the receptacle has been filled the cover may be locked by pass- 1 ing the Staples 241: through the hasps 23 and then locking the same in any suitable man- I ner, as for instance, by padlocks (not shown), The receptacle may then be placed in a delivery wa on, or other conveyance, as

The receptacle has thus been collapsed into an exceedingly compact form so as to take up butlittle room for return transportation. From what has been said it will be observed that I have produced a collapsiblereceptacle that is exceedingl simple'in. construction' and which may manufactured at low cost. It will be further noted that a v p a ter described comprising a base, sideframes the same is articularly valuable for use in post ofiices or the handling of parcel post matter, although I do not desire to limit my self in this articular, as it also has a, wide field of use ulness in connection with the handling of merchandise and miscellaneous packages of all kinds.

Having thus explained the nature of my invention, and described an operative manner of constructing andusing the same, although without attempting to set forth all of the forms in which it may be made, or all of the modes of its use, what I claim is 1. A colla sible receptacle of the 'character descri ed comprlsinga base, side frames hinged to the ends of said base, end frames hinged to the sides of said base near rom the end the ends thereof between said side frames to brace the latter when in open position, and flexible sides and ends secured to said side frames and to said base, said flexible sides and ends being connected at the corners of the receptacle to limit outward movement of the upper edges of said side frames;

A, collapsible receptacle of the character described comprising a base, side frames formed of U-shaped rods having their ends hinged to the ends of said base near the ends thereof, end frames also formed of U-shaped rods hinged to the sides of said base between said side frames to brace the latter whenin open position, and flexible sides and ends secured to said sideframes and to said'base, said flexible sides and endsbein connected atthe cornersof the receptacFe to limit outward movement of the upper edges of .movement of the upper edges of said side frames.

A',collapsible receptacle of the character described comprisin a base, side frames formed of U-shaped rods hinged to theends of said base and provided with notches in their inner faces, end frames formed of U- shaped rods hinged to the sides of said base near the ends thereof between said, vside frames and engaging said notches when in open position, and flexible-sides and ends se' cured to said side frames and to said base,

said flexible sides and ends being connected at the corners-of the receptacle to limit outward movement of the upper edges of said side frames. I

7 A collapsible receptacle of the character described comprisinga base, side frames hinged to the ends thereof, end frames hinged ,to the sides of said base near the ends thereof to brace the side frames when in open position, flexible sides and ends secured to said side frames and said base, said flexible sides and ends being connected at the corners of the receptacle, and means for holding the parts in collapsed relation.

8. A collapsible receptacle of, the character described comprising a base, side frames hinged to the ends thereof, end frames hinged to the sides of said base near the ends of the latter to brace the side frames when in open position, flexible sides and ends secured to said side frames and to said base, said flexible sides and ends being connected at the corners of the receptacle, a handle also connected with said base, and means for holding said handle and said receptacle in collapsed relation.

A collapsible receptacle of the character described comprising a base, side frames hinged to the ends thereof, end frames hinged to the sides of said basenear the ends of the latter to brace the side frames when in open position, flexible sides and ends secured to said side frames and said base,

said flexible sides and ends being connected at the corners of the receptacle, a cover hinged at one edge to one of the sides of the receptacle, and locking means for the opposite edge of said cover.

A collapsible receptacle of the character described comprising a base, side frames hinged to the ends thereof, end frames hinged to the sides of said base near the ends of the latter to brace the side frames when in open position, flexible sides and ends secured .to said side frames and said base, said flexible sides and ends being connected at the corners of the receptacle, a cover hinged at one edge to one of the side frames of the receptacle, locking means for the opposite edge of said cover, straps secured to said cover, and means cooperating with said straps for holding the parts in collapsed relation.

A collapsible receptacle of the character described comprising a base, side frames hinged to the ends thereof, end frames hinged to the sides ofsaid base near the ends of the latter to brace the side frames when in open position, flexible sides and ends seceptacle, said cover being formed of flexible F material having its edges provided with a stiffening frame.

12. A collapsible receptacle of the character described comprising a base, side frames hinged to the ends thereof, end frames hinged to the sides of said base near the ends of the latter to brace the side frames when in open position, flexible sides and ends secured to said side frames and said base, said sides and ends being connected at the corners of the receptacle, a cover hinged at one edge to one of the sides of the receptacle, said cover being formed of flexible material hav ing its edges provided with a stiffening frame, means for locking said cover in closed position, and means carried by said cover for holding the parts in collapsed relation.
