Be it known that we, BERTnAM C. SMITH and WILLIAM J. It will be obvious that the structure above 30 described presents a privy seat which may be maintained in a cleanly and sanitary condition, the construction being such that the device may be mounted in place by a person who is not a skilled mechanic. The struc- 5 ture, further, may be employed for reducing the size of an existing opening in a privy seat.

If desired, the lid 7 may be connected with the plate 3 through the instrumentality of a hinge 25 of any desired construction.
