In this manner the elastic body together with the air chamber of the plug will tend to pro duce a cushion for the tread ot' the wearer when walking on hard surfaces as well as serving to prevent the wearer from slipping on ice, or snow covered roads.
In the foregoing description, I have embodied the preferred form of my invention, but I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing from the principle or sacrificing 1 any of the advantages of this invention, therefore I reserve to myself the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentz l. A pneumatic plug of the character described, consisting of an elastic chanibered body arranged to be disposed through an opening provided in the topllift of the heel of a shoe so as to protrude a distance beyond the underside of the top-lift for contacting with the surface upon vvhich the wearer of the shoe may be walking, said elastic body having tapered outer peripheral edges to prevent the protruding part of the body from overlapping the edge of the opening of the top-lift when thc pressure a* froth` the weight of the permn is directed thereon, and means ,'irovidcd on the elastic i body, and arranged to be disposed betn'efzn the toplift and the adjacent layer of the licei for holding the body against accidental displacement to the heel.
Q. A pneumatic plug of the character dei scribed, comprising an elastic chamhcred body arranged to be disposed througl'l an opening provided in the topdi'tt of the heel thereon, and the wall of the chamber of the body being disposed on an incline so that the elastic body may be forced through the opening of the top-lift to tit tightly therein without materially reducing the dimension of the chamber in the body, and means provided upon the elastic body, and arranged to be disposed between the top-lift and the adjacent layer of the heel for holding thebodyf against accidental displacement to the heel.
3. A pneumatic plug of the character described, consisting of a substantially rectangular elastic chambered body arranged to be disposed through an opening provided in the top-lift of the heel of a shoe so as to protrude a distance beyond the underside of the top-lift for contacting with the surface upon which the wearer of the shoe may be walking, and having means arranged to be ldisposed between the top-lift and the adjacent layer of the heel for holding the body against accidental displacement to the heel, said elastic body being foi-ined with an outer tapered peripheral edge to prevent the protruding part of the body from overlapping the edge of the opening of die top-lift when the pressure from the weight of the person is directed thereon.
