Description

UNITED STATES MORDUCH L. KAIPLAN; OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
GALVANIC CELL.
No Drawing.
To all whom 1' t may concern:
Be it known that I, MORDUCH L. KAPLAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Galvanic Cells, of which the following is a specification.
The object ofthe present invention is to provide a good depolarizer for the galvanic cell of the Leclanch type.
I have discovered that potassium manganite when treated with a dilute solution of a manganous salt, is changed into a .dark colored manganous polyinanganite according to the following equation:
I have further discovered that this hy- Specification of Letters latent. Application filed June I,
blue hydrated Patented Sept. 1, 1914.
1914. Serial No. 842,021.
' drated manganous polymanganite when heated in the air, can be made to lose nearly all its water without any appreciable loss of oxygen. Both products, the hydrated as well as the dehydrated, are deep, bluishdark colored, fine dense powders, excellent depolarizers, and give good results when used in-the Leclanch cell, in relation to yield and steadiness of current.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A galvanic cell containing manganouspolymanganite as a depolarizing agent.
Signed at New York city, in the county of 35 New York and State of New York, this 29th day of May A. D. 1914:.
