To all whom it may concern ofIllinois, have invented anew. and useful Reserve Garbid-Holder for Acetylene-Gas Generators, of which the following is a specification. 4
The present nvention relates to improve' ments in reserve carbid holders for acety-' lene gas generators, the same having'been disclosed previously in applicants patent dated February 24, 1914, No. 1,088,064, one object of the present invention being the provision of a pivotally swung reserve carbid holder mounted within and carried by the main carbid holder in combination with means carried by the bell and in the path of the pivoted reserve carbid holder, whereby the bell may be oscillated to tilt an empty the reserve carbid holder. I
A further object of the present invention is the provision of a reserve carbid holder comprising a receptacle connected to a rod, said rod being pivotally mounted in the main carbid holder in the path to receive the carbid when filling the main carbid holder so as to insure the filling ofthe reserve carbid holder, the outer end of the rod beingprojected beyond the main'carbid holder and extended upwardly to receive means carried by the bell so that the bell when oscillated will tilt the reserve carbid holder and precipitate the carbid into the main carbid holder. 1
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the inven-' tion.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a vertical central sectional view of the upper portionof a complete acetylene gas generator with the present carbid holder in operable relation thereto. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail illustrating the various positions of the reserve carbid holder and the hell.

A bell 5 is disposed to encompass or incase these members so that the same may be raised or lowered due to the increasing and decreasing volume of the gas. The hell 5 is provided with a handle 6 by means of which the same may be oscillated as will presently appear. f

The reserve carbid holder is of such a capacity as to' furnish sufficient gas for a.
nights use, so that the apparatus need not be disturbed for recharging until daylight.
What is claimed is:
1. In an acetylene gas generator, the combination with a main carbid hold-er and a bell disposed thereabove for vertical and oscillatory movements, of a reserve carbid receptacle mounted within the main carbid holder, and cooperable means carried thereby and the bell, wherebywhen the bell is in its lowermost position and is oscillated, the reserve carbid receptacle is emptied.
2. In an acetylene gas generator, the combination with a main carbid holder and 'a bell mounted to surround thesame for oscillatory and vertical movements, of a reserve carbid holder, including a receptacle mounted in the upper portion'of the main holder for swinging movement, an arm carriedtherebyand projecting exteriorly'of the main carbid holder, and a lug carried by,
and projecting from the under side of the bell fordisposition in the path of said arm whereby whenthe bell is oscillated, the re- 'serve carbid receptacle is tilted and emptied. f
