AUGUEST W. ANDERSON, OF VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA.
FLEXIBLE FILM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 17, 1913. Serial No. 742,685.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUeUEs'r W. ANDER- SON, citizen of the Dominion of Canada, re siding at Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, have invented a new and useful Flexible Film, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the manner of coiling a film or band of flexible material. It is a modification of that set forth in Pat ent No. 1,033,517 granted to me on the 23rd of July, 1912, and is designed to enlarge the scope of the invention there set forth.
The invention is described in the following specification, and illustrated in the drawings by which it is accompanied, in
t which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a film coil, and Fig. 2, a plan of the same.
The invention comprises the use of a band formed as a spiral of flat rings 2 coiled one on the other, as shown in the drawing, the band passing from one end of the coil to the other outside of the coil in distinction to the arrangement under my previous patent where the band was passed through the core of the coil.
In use the band of the coil will be delivered from one side of it to the other by reversed spiral cones 3, somewhat as shown in the drawing, moving 9]! the coil at 4 on one side, crossing to the other side, and laying on the other end of the coil, in the opposite direction, as at 5.
The natural forms of the band in passing Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each,
from one end of the coil to the other will be supported by rollers or guide plates, which will maintain them in their proper position, and the band may be driven in any approved manner, either by friction rollers or by sprocket or worm gear engaging apertures or serrations in either side of the band.
The particular arrangement of and the manner of operating the 'band to obtain the desired exposure of its surface is immaterial to the subject of this application, as it is dependent largely on the use to which the band is applied, whether for moving picture or camera films, street sign exposure or advertising devices.
Having now particularly described m invention, I hereby declare that what claim as new and desire to be protected in by Letters Patent, is:
A thin flat band formed as a coil, the flat of the band being normal to the axis of the coil, and the band passing from one end of the coil to the other outside of the coil in reversed conical spirals, said spirals being located at the same side of the central axis of the coil, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
AUGUEST W. ANDERSON.
