IM PROVEMENT IN SNOW-SHOVELS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making parl: of the same` To all whom tt may concern Be it known that I, ALBRT Q. ADAMS, of Wallingford, in the county of Rutland 'and State of Vermont, have invented a 'new and valuable Improvement in Snow-Shovels; and I do. hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, land enact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference -It consists in curving the blade and protecting and strengthening the edges 'thereof with metal inthe manner hereafter desolibed. Y
The letter A of the drawing designates the handle and shank.
B represents the blade, formed of wood and curved' as shownv in the drawing. The shank A is attached to the concave or front side ofthe blade, and`secured by rivets or other suitable fastenings.
c represents a metal strip or shoe Whichis riveted to the edge of the blade, as a protection, and to serve in breaking up the frozen snow.
d d are metal strips let into the side edscs of thel blade.. These stripsgive durability to the edges, and
assist in preventing the curved blade from splitting.
I claim- The snow-shovel herein described, having the curved wooden'blade B, strengthened andl protected by the metal strips d d, inserted lengthwise in the side edges thereof, and by the shoe o, substantially as specified.
