require reconstruction involving a practically prohibitive expense.
By providing the tunnel with a baseflange which bears against the underside of the hull, the tunnel can be conveniently introduced into the opening of the hull through the bottom thereof, avoiding the necessity of removing a portion of the deck and adjacent parts, which is reouired when the construction 01: the tunnel is such that it must be introduced through the top of the boat. This arrangement of the flange against the underside of the hull also insures water tight joint between the parts inasmuch as the upward pressure of the water against the flange tends to maintain such a joint.
I claim as my invention:
The combination of the hull of a boat having an opening in its bottom, and a tunnel separate from the hull and arranged therein, said tunnel having at its base a projecting flange bearing against the underside of the hull and secured thereto, whereby the flanged tunnel may be introduced upwardl into said hull-openino through the bottom of the boat and said flange is exposed to the upward pressure of the water.
