a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indianzu have invented certain new and useful l]ll])]O/G1Y\GI1BS in lifleans for Attaching Bolster-Springs, of which the :l'ol-. lowing is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide means for securing conical s iringsto wagon :bolsters, between the latter and the bed or load-carrying portion 01E a vehicle, in a ren'iovable manner in order to provide a ready means for converting a springless wagon into one wherein the load will be spring supported. I accomplish the above object by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in whichv Figure 1 is a perspective view of a wagon bolster with my invention shown in operative position thereon, and Fig. 2 is a top plan view of one end of the same bolster and spring mechanism illustrated in Fig. 1., with the exception that the upper horizontal plate is removed.

The bolster for either the frontor rear aXle of any desired and well known form of wagon is of the usual construction and the load-supporting bed or. platform, whichis usually supported upon the bolster between the standards 4. is not shown.
Conical springs 55, here shown as two in number and of usual construction. are {astened upon a base-plate 6. The base-plate 6 is of metal. of approximately the same width as the top of the bolster and extends from one standard l of the bolster to the other and sutliciently beyond each standard to form a locking notch which will receive and hold the standard when the metal in the end of the plate removed for this purpose. The metal where the notches tor the standards are formed is removed for the reception of the standards by being bent into a loop toward the middle of the plate but is not detached at its inner end from the plate. The loop 7 thus formed is bent around a cross-bar 8 formed in a base-extension 9 of the spring 5. The member 10 is continuedsubstantially the same distance on the other side of the spring 5 to ward the middle of the bolster andis bent to term a second cross-bar l1 which 155 held under a loop 12 formed out o[ a tongue punched up from the material of the plate 6. I claim:
1. In a. device for the purposesspecified, a base-plate, one or more coiled springs mounted on said plate, each spring having an extension of its lower end made in the direction of the adjacent standard and bent near the standard to form a cross-bar transverse to the bolster, said extension latter on the opposite side of the bolster from the starting place of said spring extension and thence continued and bent to form a second cross-bar resting upon the bolster upon the opposite side of the spring from. said cross-bar, and loops formed out of the material of the base-plate engaging said spring base-extensions whereby the latter are secured to the baseplate. 4. The combination with a bolster having a pair of standards one at each end, of a base-plate on said bolster having end notches to receive the standards, a pair of coiled springs mounted on said base-plate, each spring having an extension of its lower end made in the direction of the adjacent standard and bent near the standard to form a cross-bar transverse to the bolster, said extension passing thence under the bottom conrolution of the spring and supporting the latter on the opposite side of the bolster from the starting place-of said spring extension and thence continued and bent to form a second cross-bar resting upon the bolster upon the opposite side of the spring from said first crossbar, loopsformed out of the material of the'base-plate engaging the crossbars of each base-extension, and a bearing plate having its ends notched to receive the bolster standards, said plate resting upon said coiled spring.
