"Specification. of Letters Patent.
' Patented Aug. es. 1914-.
I Application filed March 2?, m4. Serial m. 927,614.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LEAH G. MILKES, a
citizen of the United States, residing at ltlinneapolis, in the county 0t Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 111 Gate-menial. Appliances; and I do hereby declarev the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is directed to the provision of a simple, sa'nitaryand etficient cat'amenial appliance, in the nature of a double protector or combined apron and napkin holder.
Generally stated, the invention consists of- I pliance applied as worn; Fig. 2 is a perspective view looking at the appliance from the rear, some' jparts being broken away; Fig. 8 is a section taken on the line of Fig. 4; Fig. t is a. perspective View looking at the appliance from the front and side; and
Fig. 5 is a perspective View showing the pad removed from the apron. i
-The apparatus comprises two main elements, to-wit, an apron l and a napkin holder 2, both of which are preferably made chiefly from flexible waterproof material such as rubber cloth. The apron 1, however preferably has. an upper portion made 0 suitable netting indicated at l, to make the apron cooler to the wearer. The apron 1 is attached to a waist band 3, the ends of which are adapted to be tied in front. The napkin holder has cross loops. 4, undo." which the absorbent napkin 5 is adapted to be passed.
On its T31 end, the napkin, holder 2 has tabs 6 that are'adjustably and detachably secured to tabs 7 on the apron 1, by means ofsenarable fasteners 5 of the glove festener type. The tabs 7 are preferably ex.- tended across and stitched to the network 1 so that connections are thereby made with the hack of the waist band 3.
'lo the front end of the holder 2, elastic straps 9 are equipped with cooperating fastoners or interlocking devices 10, one of which should be adjustable on the strap to which it is secureo, so as to thereby make the appliance adjustable.
Attached to straps 90f the napkin holder, at oints near to the fastener 10, where they W1 l come at the back or" the wearer, are depending tabs 7 having the same fastener elements 8, as have the tabs 7 of the apron, so that the pod holder may be adjusted, as shown in 5, and Worn, at night, or at any other time, independently on": the apron.
' Above its lower edge, the apron 1 has a reinforcing strip 11, to which the upper'ends of hose supporting straps 152 are attached.
In Fig. l, the numeral 13 indicates an ordinary corset having hose supporting straps 14. The manner of applying the device is obvious, and is illustrated inthe drawings.
The hose supporters 12 on the apron, not
only support the hose, bntkeep the apron pulled down and properly s othly' held in position. The napkin hold attached and, in part, supported from the apron, but is adjnstaole in respect thereto. The napkin holder can be seinoved from the apron, and apron can then worn un der evening gowns and supper d2 The appliance when used comp ords double protection, and is ble of being easily laundied.
Vfhat l claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, the coInoination of an apron, a napkin holder, separate and independent waist-f for securing said and front end olsald napkin holder around the waist of the wearer, and means on the rear end of the napkin-holder for securing the some to said apron or to the waist band of the napkin-holder when said napkin-holder is worn without the apron.
