Description

tnitrdf Sietse @metl @wie aimeraient No. 110,633, dated January a, 1871. i
IMPROVEMENT IN FASTENINGS FOR EAVES-TROUGHS'.
The Schedule referred toin these Letters Patent and malng part of the same.
To all whom it rmay concern:
Be it known that I, LEONARD COOK, of the city of Shreveport, parish of Caddo and State of Louisiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Fastening of Ea'ves-Troughs and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being hereby had to the accompanying drawingforining a part of the specification, in Which- Figure l is a perspective riet', and Figure 2 a partly sectional elevation of -hiy invention.
A indicates a clasp;
B,.a spike or staple, which is dri-ven into the co rnicc or Wall of the building C, a band, secured at its respective ends to said clasp and spike D, the eaves-trough or gutter; and
E a wire, which is secured to the roof at one end, and to the clasp A at the other. y
The clasp slides more o1' less losely on the spike, as does also the inner` end of the band C; but the trough is held in place by the Wire E.l
In practice', the spikes required to support the gutters may be driven into the facing at suitable distances apart, and, `the several bands having been applied to the trough, it is thereby suspended from the spikes, and the wires fastened to the roof to hold the trough in proper position relative to the eaves.
This construction allows the troughs to be easily and quicklj,r applied to or removed from the eaves. The same may be conveniently adjusted on the spikes by shortening or lengthening the roof-Wires, and the troughs require no intern-al braces, since the bands hold them firmly in place against the spikes.
The' fastening-device isjalso strong, simple, durable, and cheaprl What I claim as new is- The band O, clasp A, and wire E, in combination with the spike B and trough D, all constructed and arranged as shown and described.
' LEONARD COOK.
